The AZL Indians (1-3) dropped their third game of the season as they were outslugged on Sunday night, 12-9 to the AZL Athletics. Despite an early three spot put on the board courtesy of a bases loaded clearing triple by Eric Haase, the Tribe pitching struggled.
It was a slugfest in Goodyear on Saturday night. Any hitting shortages seen in the season’s first two contests were forgiven after the AZL Indians mashed 19 hits, yielding 13 runs as the Tribe trumped the AZL Brewers. Ryan Battaglia, who really struggled in his previous 10 AB’s that included 6 strikeouts, bounced back in a positive fashion as he went 2-4 with 3 RBIs including a double a triple

The Arizona League Indians fell to the Arizona League Angels in extras last night with a final of 3-2. The Indians battled the Angels in their second game of the season, but despite seemingly frequent opportunities in the late going, the young guns could not capitalize on their opportunities. As expected, the Indians made made several roster moves today throughout their minor league system. The Indians' rookie level Arizona Indians affiliate got their season started last night, but lost to the Reds by a score of 11-6. The IPI's very own Sean Mahon was there to take in the action, and will be at all of the AZL Indians' games the next two months to document what happened in the game and provide quotes from players and coaches.
Bo Greenwell had a tough 2011 where he suffered a severe finger and knee injury which cost him most of last season and has already cost him the first two months of this season. He is in Arizona working his way back and hopes to return to game action soon, and Tony has the update on how his progress is going.
Tony recently sat down with Carter Hawkins in the Indians Player Development Department and discussed how things look in the system as the quarter pole in the minor league season was recently passed. They discussed over 16 players with how they are doing and what strides they are making, namely Cord Phelps, Corey Kluber, Bryan Price, Jeremie Tice, Carlos Moncrief, Shawn Armstrong, Jeff Johnson, Grant Sides, Dorsyss Paulino and more.
