The AZL Indians looked the part of a rookie league squad last night as they committed six errors in the field and went 0-for-5 with RISP on the evening in a 9-2 loss to the AZL Cubs. Leaving six runners on base and striking out ten times on the night were part of the problem.
Another night, another teenage Tribe thumping. The young Tribe hit Angels’ pitching hard on Sunday night, punching 13 hits and scored in five of the nine innings played. The Baby Tribe would go on to beat the Angels, 15-6, as D'vone McClure and Mitch Brown showcased a potential future devastating duo. The AZL Indians finally reached .500 last night in a 7-4 victory over the Dodgers. The IPI's Sean Mahon was there again to take in the game and observed Dillon Howard's struggles on the mound, the rehab outings of Trey Haley and Danny Jimenez, and lots of other good pitching and some clutch hitting. He has tons of info with pitch velocities for all the pitchers and has firsthand observations from himself and scouts on how several rookie Indians looked.
Minnesota native Mitch Brown was on the bump for his first professional start on Monday night with his two sisters in attendance, and the Indians won 6-3 over the Reds. Brown showed sharp stuff last night displaying his entire four pitch repertoire...
A new feature being tested out on the IPI today, one that ranks the top 20 performances in the Indians' entire farm system from the past week. Tony gives some thoughts and insight on those performances, a list that includes the likes of Giovanni Soto, Luigi Rodriguez, Jordan Smith, Jeanmar Gomez, Jake Sisco, Matt Packer, Steven Wright, Bo Greenwell and lots more.
The AZL Indians seem to be loaded with offense, but the focus in week three seemed to be on the starting pitching. 2012 Fifth round pick Dylan Baker made his pro debut, and 2011 second round pick Dillon Haward continued his progression through the system. Kieran Lovegrove and Mitch Brown were also readying themselves for potential moves as well. Join IPI's Sean Mahon with an exclusive look at the rookie league!
Calhoun, GA native and this year’s 7th round pick Joshua McAdams really made his mother’s drive from Georgia to Arizona a worthwhile one yesterday night. The AZL Indians would win courtesy a walk off knock from McAdams in the 11th inning after a three run comeback to tie it in the 9th inning.
It was a chaotic nine inning game of baseball last night as the AZL Indians pitching was bruised and battered for 17 runs off 21 hits to accommodate 5 errors in the field in a 17-15 loss to the D-Backs. The Indians 2012 5th round pick Dylan Baker started the game and looked to have some nerves on the mound in his professional debut.
Today is the official start of the second half of the season, a time when prospects either surge or fizzle into a long offseason. With the All Star break here for the big league team in Cleveland as well as Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Akron, Tony felt this would be a good time to take a look at some of the new Latin faces down at rookie level Arizona. In part one of this two-part piece, he looks at the Latin pitching talent there and gives all kinds of scouting information on all of them and provides the information on who are the better prospects with more upside.
Defensive woes, a lack of hitting and a tendency to give up moon shots triggered the AZL Indians’ troubles on Monday night as they were trounced by the AZL Dodgers, 13-3. Bladimir Franco and Tyler Ogle of the Dodgers made a home run derby of their own hitting mountainous home runs in the desert off of Jeffrey Cleto.
