2012 IPI on Site: Alex Lavisky
"IPI on Site" is a new on-line video show for the site developed by myself and edited/produced by Michael Taylor that features an on-air interview with a player in the Cleveland Indians organization with some highlights of them in action. This week Low-A Lake County catcher Alex Lavisky joins us to talk about how his season is going and what he is doing to get better.

Captains fall 2-1 in pitcher's duel
Tyler Green (1-2) got the win for South Bend. Green pitched a season high five and two thirds innings and allowed just five hits, he allowed one earned run and struck out six Captains. Taylor Siemens the lefty entered for South Bend and two and a third scoreless innings. He fanned two. In the ninth Matt Sample came in to earn the save for the Silver Hawks. It was Sample’s third save of the season. The final score was 2-1 South Bend.

On-Deck with the Captains: 5/10/12 - 5/16/12
The Captains have won five in a row, are back over .500, and are suddenly in the middle of a playoff race with a few weeks to go before the first half ends. Strong showings from Cody Anderson, Francisco Lindor and many others have helped, and Lianna Holub details all of it in her "On-Deck with the Captains" notebook.

Minor Happenings: Goedert has his sights set on Columbus
In today’s Minor Happenings, Tony talks about the blazing hot Jared Goedert and discusses when he may be moving up and what other moves may happen in conjunction with his callup. Captains win 5th straight in South Bend
The only thing that changed for the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night was the venue. Playing away from the friendly confines of Classic Park for the first time in seven games, the Captains (20-19) kept on rolling, defeating the second-place South Bend Silver Hawks (21-19) 5-2. It was the fifth consecutive win for Lake County, placing them over .500 for the first time since April 10.

Captains win 4-1, Sweep the Loons
The Lake County Captains (19-19) completed the four game sweep of the Great Lakes Loons (20-19) on Tuesday, winning the game by a score of 4-1. The win pushed the Captains, winners of seven of their last eight, back to .500 on the season. The four game winning streak is the longest of the season for Lake County. Meanwhile, the Loons suffered their fifth straight defeat.

Lindor returns with a bang
Welcome back Francisco Lindor. After missing five games for a family emergency, Lindor, playing shortstop, returned to action for the Lake County Captains (18-19) in a big way against the Great Lakes Loons (20-18). The Captains emerged victorious 6-3 behind five RBI from Lindor. Lindor finished the night 2-4, belting his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot. He followed that up with a two-RBI single to give him five RBI on the day and 17 on the season.

3 Up, 3 Down: Sterling rising, Slowey falling
Tony chimes in today with his weekly Monday piece "3 Up, 3 Down" and looks at a few of the good and not so good performances from the past week in the Indians’ minor league system. Sabourin’s homerun lifts Captains over Loons
The Mother’s Day crowd of 1,968 people saw a back and forth affair in a 5-3 win by the Lake County Captains over the Great Lakes Loons on Sunday afternoon. Left-hander Elvis Araujo started the game for the Captains and right-hander Jose Dominguez opened for the Loons.

Lake County jumps on Great Lakes, 6-4
Alex Monsalve lifted the Lake County Captains over the Great Lakes Loons with a solo home run on Saturday afternoon, ensuring the Captains’ with a 6-4 win. Lake County scored first off of Great Lakes’ starter Jarret Martin (2-1, 2.63) as centerfielder Luigi Rodriguez reached on a fielder error by Great Lakes’ shortstop Pedro Guerrero.

Captains get burned with late run by Dragons
The Lake County Captains failed to ignite much offense on Fireworks Night on Friday as they fell to the Dayton Dragons in a 5-4 loss. Left-hander Shawn Morimando took the bump for the Captains for his second start of the season. The 19-year-old held the Dragons to no hits through three innings until Dayton drew first blood in the fourth.
