Lake County strands 11 in 4-1 loss to Lansing
Lake County (29-33) was unable to come up with base hits in the clutch on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Lansing Lugnuts (43-19) by a score of 4-1. The Captains certainly did not struggle to put runners on base, netting 11 hits and walking twice. Johnson has settled into closer's role
Low-A Lake County right-handed reliever Jeff Johnson got off to a very slow start, but after a few tough outings he has been on quite a roll and has settled in as the closer for the team. A year removed from the draft and an injury scare, he is back pitching as good as he ever has. Stephanie Metzger talked to him this week and provides the details on his season to date.

Hankins delivers walkoff win, 4-3
The draw on Monday night at Lake County was Indians catcher Carlos Santana, who was making a rehab start with the Captains. Santana is coming off the new 7-day concussion disabled list. However, the fans who stuck around after Santana left the game saw a great minor league baseball game. Lake County (28-29) needed thirteen innings, but won Monday night’s rubber match with Fort Wayne (27-31) in walk off fashion.

Captains finally beat Whitecaps at home, 8-7
It took one of the wackiest games of the season for Lake County (26-28) to finally end its five-game losing skid, defeating West Michigan (25-30) 8-7 to avoid the sweep. As the old adage goes, you never know what you are going to get in baseball. That was the case in the eighth inning of Friday night’s contest at Classic Park.
