On-Deck with the Captains: 6/07/2012 - 06/13/2012
Rodriguez and Lindor are once again hitting and being a nuisance for opposing pitchers at the top of the lineup, Felix Sterling's woes on the mound continue, and Mason Radeke is blazing hot on the mound. There are only four games left before the All-Star break, and Lianna Holub chimes in with her weekly Captains notebook "On-Deck with the Captains" for the last full week of the first half.

Radeke is out to prove everyone wrong
Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Mason Radeke is off to a very good start this season, and has really come on strong of late. As a 35th round pick of the Indians in last year's draft, he uses his low draft selection as motivation and just continues to attack hitters. Mike Zavagno recently had a chance to sit down with the right-hander...

MacPhee stays hot, but Captains still lose 5-4
The Lake County Captains could not take advantage of 12 total hits or a late inning rally on Wednesday as they fell to the South Bend Silver Hawks 5-4. Right-hander Felix Sterling (3-5, 5.72) took the bump for the Captains against South Bend righty Tyler Green (1-3, 2.79). Green threw well in his last outing against the Captains while Sterling was coming off a rough appearance against Dayton.

Minor Happenings: Tice is powering his way to a promotion
A bit of a catch-up posting today in Minor Happenings as this bi-weekly column was absent last week due to the insane amount of draft coverage on the site. In today’s Happenings, Tony takes a look at the recent hot performances from right-hander Mason Radeke and designated hitter Jeremie Tice, gets some more post-draft comments from Brad Grant, and provides some updates on players like Tyler Holt, Shawn Morimando, Nick Weglarz, and others.

Captains swept out of Lansing, 7-1
The Lansing Lugnuts sent the Lake County Captains packing after a three-game sweep as Lake County failed to overcome a rough start by Cody Anderson and a trio of errors in a 7-1 loss. Starting for the Captains was All-Star Cody Anderson (4-3, 2.91) against Lansing’s Justin Nicolino (2-0, 1.47). This time, though, Anderson struggled to keep the Lugnuts from stealing an early lead.

A year removed from the draft and an injury scare, he is back pitching as good as he ever has. Stephanie Metzger talked to him this week and provides the details on his season to date.

Hankins delivers walkoff win, 4-3
The draw on Monday night at Lake County was Indians catcher Carlos Santana, who was making a rehab start with the Captains. Santana is coming off the new 7-day concussion disabled list. However, the fans who stuck around after Santana left the game saw a great minor league baseball game. Lake County (28-29) needed thirteen innings, but won Monday night’s rubber match with Fort Wayne (27-31) in walk off fashion.
