Burlington buries Lake County, 7-2
Burlington sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs in the opening frame of the ballgame. The early four run lead was insurmountable for the Captains. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of Dusty Robinson. Robinson doubled to left center field, which scored the first two runs for Burlington. From that point, Burlington used three more hits and scored two more runs and had the early 4-0 lead after a half of an inning.

Captains shutout, 3-0
The Peoria Chiefs defeated the Lake County Captains by a score of 3-0. The Chiefs pitching was the story of the game. Starter P.J. Francescon (2-1) pitched six innings allowing just two hits. He did not walk a hitter, and did not allow a run to score. Francescon struck out nine Captains hitters and earned the win. The dominant start was a big part of the victory for the Chiefs.

Captains comeback attempt falls short in 6-5 loss
The Lake County Captains (5-14) attempted a rally in the ninth inning of the series finale but were unable to score the go-ahead run against the Kane County Cougars (10-9) and fell 6-5. Kane County drew first blood with two outs in the third inning off of Captains’ starter Joe Colon (1-2, 4.26 ERA).
