The Lake County Captains jumped on the Lansing Lugnuts early on Sunday afternoon as the Lake County offense caught the early lead to earn a 9-2 victory.
The Lake County Captains took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning and held onto a 3-2 lead over the Lansing Lugnuts on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 7,162 people.
DAYTON – Mason Radeke led the Lake County Captains to a 5-3 victory over the Dayton Dragons as he tossed six innings of scoreless ball for his sixth win of the season.

The Lake County Captains (27-24, 58-62) fell to the Dayton Dragons (22-28, 52-68) by a final of 12-6 at Fifth Third Field on Thursday night. Lake County committed five errors on the night, a season high. Lake County also threw one wild pitch in the second game of a three game series in Dayton.

Jake Lowery led the Lake County Captains over the South Bend Silver Hawks as he hit his sixth home run of the season to carry the Captains to a 10-6 victory on Sunday. Elvis Araujo (6-9, 5.21) received the win for the Captains as he countered South Bend’s 6’8” lefty Andrew Barbosa (2-3, 3.89).
The South Bend Silver Hawks used a three run sixth inning to pull away from the Lake County Captains and fly to a 7-2 win on Saturday night. Lake County has lost three straight games and is now tied with South Bend for the last playoff spot.
Low-A Lake County catcher Jake Lowery's season to date has not gone as he hoped it would at the outset. After starting the season at High-A Carolina, he ran into some struggles and was reassigned to Lake County in July. With just a few weeks left in the season he wants to finish strong and give himself something to build on for next year. Stephanie Metzger recently sat down with him to discuss how things are going.

Low-A Lake County lefty Shawn Morimando has remained a model of consistency in the ever-shifting Lake County starting rotation this season. The pitching staff has seen various players converted from relievers, sent to the bullpen, called up, or sent down, but Morimando has been one Captain to answer the bell every fifth day for manager Dave Wallace. The Lake County Captains picked up a 5-2 victory in the first of a three-game series against the Great Lakes Loons to provide reliever Cody Penny with a win in his Captains debut. All-Star Cody Anderson (6-7, 5.92) received the start for the Captains against Great Lakes’ right-hander Gustavo Gomez (4-6, 3.29).
