Sunday was a forgettable afternoon for the Captains, who dropped the second game of a four-game series to the Lansing Lugnuts 10-1. It was a rough day for every pitcher who took the mound for Lake County, starting with Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.50). Morimando lasted just three innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks. Only four of the runs were earned
Dave Wallace was a catcher in the Indians minor league system a few years ago, and his best season as a player came during a short stop during Low-A Lake County's inaugural season in 2003. Since then he had not been back to Lake County until this year when he returned as the manager and with a whole new perspective.
In the first game of a Memorial Weekend series on the road against the Lansing Lugnuts, the Lake County Captains were victorious, downing the first-place Lugnuts in a nail-biter 4-3. Right-hander Cody Anderson started on the hill for the Captains
The Lake County Captains (24-23) used the fuel from two ejections in the first inning and a great pitching performance to win the final game of a three game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps (21-27), 7-4. Lake County loaded the bases in the first inning off of Whitecaps’ starter Tommy Collier (2-4, 3.04 ERA) with two hits and a walk. Rightfielder Jordan Smith was called out on strikes.
The Lake County Captains (23-23) gave starter Elvis Araujo (2-4, 2.66) plenty of run support in a 10-4 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps (21-26) on Thursday night. The win puts Lake County one game out of second place in the division. West Michigan struck first in the second inning. Third baseman Jason King singled with two outs. He stole second, and scored on a single by the centerfielder Jason Krizan.

The Captains went 2-4 this week and the offense continues to be, well, offensive. The one bright spot continues to be the bullpen and most of the starts from the starting rotation. Lianna Holub gets us caught up on the week that was in her weekly notebook "On-Deck with the Captains".
