The Radar Report is back with lots of gun readings on several Indians' prospects. This is a premium site feature which posts about once a month and provides the fastball and secondary velocities of players in the Indians' organization that I see. This week's report includes tons of information on Lake County pitchers and some of the new pitchers in Mahoning Valley.
As expected, the Indians made made several roster moves today throughout their minor league system. With the start of the second half for the full season Single-A teams and the start of short season leagues, this is usually a time where there is a lot of movement. Tony recaps the flurry of roster moves....after the jump...
The Lake County Captains are currently in the midst of their four game All Star break. They finished the first half 31-38 and made lots of good strides as a team and as individuals after a tough April. Lianna Holub recaps the first half in her weekly notebook "On-Deck with the Captains". The second half starts up on Friday and the Captains begin 0-0 and will look to get into the postseason!
Today's Minor Happenings is stuffed with lots of updates from Tony on several players up and down the Indians minor league system. He talks about the red hot Russ Canzler and what his play of late may mean for a big league opportunity, the good pitching from Brett Brach, the pro debut of Tyler Naquin, and what is going on with Dillon Howard. He also provides several updates on the walking wounded in the system and updates on some of the things many other players are working on.
Low-A Lake County All Star right-handed pitcher Cody Anderson made a big impression in the first half. He quickly settled into the starting rotation and pitched well, and now he is working on the finer points of pitching because he is still very new to it. Tony recently sat down with the former 2011 14th round pick and talked about how things are going.
In this week's IPI Stock Watch, with the first half of the season coming to close Tony reviews the season to date and notes which players have improved or hurt the stock they had at the start of the season. In today's piece he makes note of several players at every level of the Indians' system, namely Cody Allen, Corey Kluber, Tim Fedroff, Steven Wright, Nick Weglarz, Tony Wolters, Will Roberts, Jordan Smith, Robel Garcia, Felix Sterling and many more.
Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Joe Colon is having another good season for the Indians. He was rewarded for his good season to date by being named to the Midwest League All Star team, a game which is being played tonight. Stephanie Metzger recently sat down with Colon and talked about his season and where it may go from here....
Tony chimes in with his weekly "3 Up, 3 Down" feature with a different twist this week by noting his three “up” and three “down” performances at the Indians’ Single-A level this season, plus a few bonus players. As always, insight gathered from talking with scouts, coaches and executives inside and outside the organization are used when talking about each of these players: Cody Anderson, Shawn Armstrong, Kyle Blair, Alex Lavisky, Jake Lowery, Carlos Moncrief, Jeremie Tice, and LeVon Washington.

The Lake County Captains (31-37) swatted two homers and defeated the Dayton Dragons (29-40) by a score of 11-2. Lake County had a big five run inning in the bottom of the third inning. The Captains sent eight men to the plate and used a two run double by Jerrud Sabourin and a RBI triple by Todd Hankins in the inning to fuel the five run frame. It was a 6-0 game headed to the fourth inning.

Although the Captains (30-37) provided the post-game pyrotechnics Friday night at Classic Park, the in-game fireworks were courtesy of the Dayton Dragons (29-39). The Dragons cruised to a 9-3 victory, their eighth win in their last 12 contests.

Rodriguez and Lindor are once again hitting and being a nuisance for opposing pitchers at the top of the lineup, Felix Sterling's woes on the mound continue, and Mason Radeke is blazing hot on the mound. There are only four games left before the All-Star break, and Lianna Holub chimes in with her weekly Captains notebook "On-Deck with the Captains" for the last full week of the first half.
Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Mason Radeke is off to a very good start this season, and has really come on strong of late. As a 35th round pick of the Indians in last year's draft, he uses his low draft selection as motivation and just continues to attack hitters. Mike Zavagno recently had a chance to sit down with the right-hander...
