Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Joe Colon is having another good season for the Indians. He was rewarded for his good season to date by being named to the Midwest League All Star team, a game which is being played tonight. the Lake County Captains ended the first half of the regular season with a heartbreaking loss to the Dayton Dragons on Sunday in front of a Father’s Day crowd of 3,701. Lefthander Shawn Morimando started for the Captains and allowed two runs in the first inning.
The Lake County Captains (31-37) swatted two homers and defeated the Dayton Dragons (29-40) by a score of 11-2. Lake County had a big five run inning in the bottom of the third inning. The Captains sent eight men to the plate and used a two run double by Jerrud Sabourin and a RBI triple by Todd Hankins in the inning to fuel the five run frame. It was a 6-0 game headed to the fourth inning.
The Indians have been quite busy on the transactions front the past few weeks from the big league team down to Low-A Lake County. Several players have been promoted/demoted while others have been activated from injuries. Arthur Kinney is here is recap all of the activity...
Although the Captains (30-37) provided the post-game pyrotechnics Friday night at Classic Park, the in-game fireworks were courtesy of the Dayton Dragons (29-39). The Dragons cruised to a 9-3 victory, their eighth win in their last 12 contests.

The Lake County Captains (30-36) had their hearts broken by the South Bend Silver Hawks (34-33) for the second consecutive night. One game after South Bend officially eliminated Lake County from playoff contention, the Silver Hawks, who are vying for the wild card spot themselves, won in extra innings 9-7.
Rodriguez and Lindor are once again hitting and being a nuisance for opposing pitchers at the top of the lineup, Felix Sterling's woes on the mound continue, and Mason Radeke is blazing hot on the mound. Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Mason Radeke is off to a very good start this season, and has really come on strong of late. As a 35th round pick of the Indians in last year's draft, he uses his low draft selection as motivation and just continues to attack hitters. The Lake County Captains could not take advantage of 12 total hits or a late inning rally on Wednesday as they fell to the South Bend Silver Hawks 5-4. Right-hander Felix Sterling (3-5, 5.72) took the bump for the Captains against South Bend righty Tyler Green (1-3, 2.79). Green threw well in his last outing against the Captains while Sterling was coming off a rough appearance against Dayton.

The Lake County Captains snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night as they beat the South Bend Silver Hawks 9-6, thanks to a pair of home runs. Lake County sent left-hander Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.22) to the bump against South Bend’s Jesse Darrah (5-2, 3.77), a righty whom the Captains hit hard back in May.

The Lansing Lugnuts sent the Lake County Captains packing after a three-game sweep as Lake County failed to overcome a rough start by Cody Anderson and a trio of errors in a 7-1 loss. Starting for the Captains was All-Star Cody Anderson (4-3, 2.91) against Lansing’s Justin Nicolino (2-0, 1.47). This time, though, Anderson struggled to keep the Lugnuts from stealing an early lead.
