Fishing for Mudcats: "Seems like old times..."
The Kinston Indians were pitching dominant for the past two seasons. The Carolina Mudcats haven't been, but over the past two weeks, the Muddies have started to resemble the K-Tribe in more ways than just as the Indians' High A affiliate. Mudcats split doubleheader with Salem
Following a rain out on Monday the Carolina Mudcats (19-16) and Salem Red Sox (19-14) split a doubleheader Tuesday. In the first game the ineffectiveness of Mudcat starter Mike Rayl proved to be too much to overcome for the Mudcats as they fell 8-6. Rayl only lasted two and two third innings and in that time he gave up seven runs (six earned) on six hits.

Tony chimes in today with his weekly Monday piece "3 Up, 3 Down" and looks at a few of the good and not so good performances from the past week in the Indians’ minor league system. Insight gathered from talking with scouts, coaches and executives inside and outside the organization are used for this week's players: Tim Fedroff, Francisco Jimenez, Beau Mills, Luigi Rodriguez, Kevin Slowey and Felix Sterling.

Mudcats earn sweep of Potomac with a 3-2 win
The Carolina Mudcats faced the Potomac Nationals looking for the series sweep after clinching the series win the night before. Behind Francisco Jimenez’s good outing the Mudcats were able to win in a tight one 3-2 over the Nationals taking all three games in the series. Jimenez went five and two third innings giving up two unearned runs while striking out five and giving up only two hits.

Mudcats Beat up Nationals for the second straight night
The Carolina Mudcats (17-16) clicked on all cylinders on Saturday Night, as the downed the Potomac Nationals (13-18) 9-1 in the second game of a three game series. The Mudcat pitching staff again threw a great game, led by Mudcats’ starter Kyle Blair who would turn in a gem as he pitched five innings, giving only one run on one hit while striking out five.

Mudcats big first inning leads to easy 9-2 win
The Carolina Mudcats (16-16) opened a three game series against the Potomac Nationals (13-17) at Five County Stadium on Friday with a 9-2 win. The Mudcats offense came to life against the Nationals compiling a total of nine extra base hits, eight of which were doubles. A seven run first inning in which the first seven batters reached proved to be all the Mudcats would need to win the game.

Mudcats shut down in doubleheader with Pelicans
After a solid 6-0 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in game one on Tuesday, the Carolina Mudcats lost both games of a doubleheader on Thursday night in Myrtle Beach and fell back to .500 on the season. Game two of the series was a low scoring affair but the Pelicans narrowly escaped with a 2-1 win over the Mudcats in extra innings.

Minor Happenings: Sisco is working hard in extended
In today’s week ending edition of Minor Happenings, Tony gives us an update on the happenings out in extended spring training with lots of information from the front office on some players currently playing out there. Also, Tony takes a look at the continued improvements being made by Jesus Aguilar and T.J. McFarland, Joe Colon’s value, Trevor Crowe’s health, the debut of Shawn Morimando, the impressive start for Adam Abraham and Jeremie Tice, and lots more.

Fishing for Mudcats: "There's rain on my window..."
It's raining in Carolina, and it seems as though every other night has another Mudcats' game postponed. So tonight, as the Mudcats sit in their hotel rooms during the latest rainout, I give you another edition of Fishing for Mudcats. It's been a dominating week for the Muddies, as their 5-1 record has brought them within' 2 1/2 games of first place. Now, if we could just stop that rain...

Jimenez, Mudcats shut down Pelicans 6-0
The Carolina Mudcats first visit to South Carolina resulted in a 6-0 shutout victory on Tuesday night over the host Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Mudcats’ starting pitcher Francisco Jimenez grabbed his third win of the season following a strong six inning performance where he allowed only three hits while striking out six batters. Reliever J.D. Reichenbach pitched a solid inning of relief and closer Trey Haley finished off the Pelicans with two strikeouts over a pair of innings.
