The first edition of Minor Happenings each year typically does not post until the first Thursday after the season opens, but there is a lot to talk about and get everyone caught up on. In today’s special edition of the Happenings, I give an update on Tony Wolters’ move to catcher, introduce Robert Whitenack, break down Tyler Naquin’s great opening night showing, and have all kinds of quotes from the front office on the catchers in the system and where some of the missing players are to start the season.

On a perfect night for the 2013 home opener, the Carolina Mudcats took the field against the Winston Salem Dash and exploded for ten runs in a 10-1 blowout win. Tyler Naquin just missed hitting for the cycle and right-hander Cody Anderson as well as shortstop Francisco Lindor all impress on opening night.

2013 Carolina Mudcats Preview: Fishing with #1 Draft Picks
I close out my 2013 pre-season work with my 2013 preview for the Indians High A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. The Muddies appear to be loading up with top prospects, as ten of the top 60 start off the year with Carolina, and with another three or four ready to make the move when there's an opening. With an established Indians' coaching staff, led by last year's Lake County Skipper David Wallace, the Mudcats look to bring excitement to the Raleigh area in 2013.

Who are the Most Intriguing Prospects in 2013?
Finishing his series of looking at the Cleveland minor league system with varying adjectives, Jim Piascik lists the most intriguing prospects as we head into the 2013 season. Sometimes a pitcher lacks raw stuff but always seems to get results anyway. Sometimes prospects have ridiculous tools that simply have not translated into game action yet. Sometimes it's something else entirely. Find out who Jim thinks the most intriguing prospects are after the jump.

Who are the Most Impressive Prospects in 2013?
Continuing his series of looking at the Cleveland minor league system with varying adjectives, Jim Piascik lists the most impressive prospects as we head into the 2013 season. Some players are impressive with one or two standout tools, while others impress with their all-around game. What is most important is that these players can make you leave the park thinking about their performance more so than the rest of the team. Find out who Jim thinks these players are after the jump.

Coach's Corner '12: Scooter Tucker
In today's final edition of "Coach's Corner" this offseason, we saved the best for last. Tony recently had a chance to sit down with former High-A Carolina hitting coach and new Low-A Lake County manager Scooter Tucker and discuss a lot of the players he worked with this past season at Carolina. The Indians had a lot of very intriguing position player talent at Carolina this past season, and Tucker went into great detail on things they worked on over the course of the season. They talked about Carlos Moncrief, Ronny Rodriguez, Tony Wolters, Jesus Aguilar, Giovanny Urshela, Anthony Gallas, and more.
