The Carolina Mudcats may have been down late in the bottom of the ninth, but they were not ready to roll over and extend their losing streak just yet. With Naquin on third and Lindor standing on second, backup catcher Ryan Battaglia singled to shallow left field and both Naquin and Lindor were waved around to score to give Carolina the 5-4 win.

On a beautiful night at Five County Stadium, Carolina Mudcats pitcher Jacob Lee challenged the Red Sox batters through the sixth inning, though Salem caught up with him in the seventh inning. After a great start, both offensively and defensively, the momentum slowed and the Mudcats inability to consistently close games haunted them yet again as Salem took the late lead and the 5-4 victory.

The Lynchburg Hillcats swept the struggling Carolina Mudcats on Monday night with a 7-4 victory at Five County Stadium, running Carolina’s losing streak to 7 games.

The Lynchburg Hillcats clubbed 11 hits against the Carolina Mudcats en route to an 11-4 triumph at Five County Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Hillcats improved to 19-15, taking the four-game series by way of winning the first three. The Mudcats (13-23) dropped their sixth straight at home.

The Carolina Mudcats continue to hit the ball well, but the fact that they can't seem to drive in runs combined with a pitching staff that has a hard time not allowing runs has left the Muddies with a bad mix for winning. Jordan Smith, Luigi Rodriguez, Jerrud Sabourin and Cody Anderson carried the team this week, but not far enough for a winning record in week 5. ZEBULON – The Carolina Mudcats lost a heartbreaker to the Lynchburg Hillcats at Five County Stadium on Saturday night 9-8. Carolina grabbed a big lead early, allowed the Hillcats to tie it up by the middle of the game, and allowed Lynchburg to take the lead late. The Mudcats led 5-1 before allowing eight unanswered runs. The loss dropped the Mudcats record to 13-22 on the year.

It was a quiet night in the farm system as two games were washed away and another was suspended late in the game leaving just Carolina who managed to play a complete nine inning game. The IBI's Arthur Kinney recaps the night and touches on some of the performances in Carolina and what happened in Akron before their game was delayed.

Coming off a double header sweep of the Salem Sox on Thursday, the Carolina Mudcats returned to Five County Stadium on Friday night to face off against the Lynchburg Hillcats looking to extend the winning streak to three games. With the stars of Lizard Lick Towing in attendance, the Mudcats were not able to do that however, falling to the Hillcats by a final score of 10-3.

The Clippers unloaded on Thursday with two players in particular having great showings. One of the top prospects in Akron had a huge night, while the Mudcats played a doubleheader and had impressing pitching performances. Did #WashTime come through again? The Mudcats snapped a five-game losing skid with a 2-1 triumph in game one, and pulled away for a game two victory, 4-1.
