Nathan Karns held the Carolina Mudcats to one run over seven innings as the Potomac Nationals claimed the series with 2-1 victory on Monday night at Pfitzner Stadium. Karns (4-2) scattered three hits as the Potomac Nationals improved to 10-9, 41-48 overall. The Mudcats fell to 11-8, 43-46 overall.

The Carolina Mudcats (8-4) completed the sweep of the Potomac Nationals (6-6) as they took the final game of the series 5-3 on Tuesday night. The Mudcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and it seemed as though the Mudcats would be able to again cruise to victory as Mike Rayl breezed through the first four innings.
The Carolina Mudcats (7-4) beat up on the Potomac Nationals (6-5) on Monday as they took the second game of the series 11-1. Led by first baseman Jesus Aguilar and third baseman Giovany Urshela the Mudcat offense was almost unstoppable scoring at least one run in all but one inning. Both hitters were a triple away from a cycle. Aguilar went 4-for-5 with two home runs and drove in six while Urshela added in three hits of his own with a homer and two RBI.

Francisco Jimenez gave the Mudcats a strong outing, tossing six innings, while giving up only one run on three hits. “He was good, he kept us in the game. The Carolina Mudcats’ bullpen gave a strong effort in a 9-6 triumph over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Friday night at TicketReturn.com Field. Dale Dickerson (5-2), Shawn Armstrong and Grant Sides combined to hold the Pelicans (6-3, 42-37) to two runs over the final seven innings. Dickerson entered the game in the third, and allowed one run on one hit over three innings to earn the win.
