The Carolina Mudcats fell into a hole early against the Wilmington Blue Rocks but rallied in the ninth inning before falling 4-3 on Thursday night. The loss was the Mudcats 15th one-run loss of the season, bringing the Mudcats record to 19-33.

Things were busy on the farm Wednesday, with all of Cleveland's affiliates in action and Lake County completing a doubleheader. Great performances rolled in from throughout the system, with major league options impressing in Columbus, top prospects shining in Akron and Carolina, and a Lake County prospect hitting his first home run of the season. The headlines, however, belonged to a dominant Carolina pitcher and a returning reliever making his first appearance of the season. After being shut out on Tuesday night, the Carolina Mudcats returned the favor by shutting out the Wilmington Blue Rocks by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night. The win brings the Mudcats' record to 19-32 on the season. Left-handed starting pitcher Shawn Morimando dominated the Blue Rocks through six innings, giving up only three hits and two walks. Morimando never allowed a base runner past second base in his six innings of work.

The Indians had a quieter night than usual on Tuesday night around the farm thanks to Low-A Lake County's rainout. All three of Columbus, Akron and Carolina were in action and really struggled, and Tony chimes in with the notable performances from all three stops and discusses the struggles of Rob Whitenack.

ZEBULON, N.C.—John Lamb and the Wilmington Blue Rocks held the Carolina Mudcats scoreless in a 6-0 win at Five County Stadium Tuesday night. Lamb (4-4) threw seven innings and allowed five hits and two walks. The Mudcats dropped to 18-32 and were shutout for the third time this season.

There have been few bright spots in an otherwise bleak season for the Carolina Mudcats, but one of the brightest spots has been the maturation of right handed starting pitcher Cody Anderson. The Quincy, California native, the owner of a Carolina League-leading five wins and the league’s fourth best ERA at 2.47 has been the ace of the Carolina staff thus far in his ten starts this season. Zebulon, N.C.—Bo Greenwell fell a single shy of the cycle on Monday afternoon, and drove in five runs, as the Carolina Mudcats toppled the Wilmington Blue Rocks 13-8 at Five County Stadium. The Mudcats won their fourth home game in the last five tries, and improved to 18-31 overall.

Zebulon, N.C. – The Carolina Mudcats allowed eight runs in a disastrous seventh inning as the Winston-Salem Dash claimed the finale of weekend series with an 11-4 win on Sunday afternoon. A crowd of 5,968 at Five County Stadium watched the Dash end Carolina’s three-game winning streak at home.

After taking a big early lead, the Carolina Mudcats gave up the lead in the top of the eighth, but rallied for the 8-7 win on Saturday night at Five County Stadium against the Winston Salem Dash. The second straight win against the Dash brings Carolina’s record to 16-31.

ZEBULON - The Mudcats jumped out to an early lead on Friday night at Five County Stadium and never relinquished it as the team held on for a 5-3 win over the Winston Salem Dash. The win brought Carolina’s record to 16-30 on the season.

The rains held off in the minor leagues Wednesday night, not subjecting those games to the wet quagmire the major league team had to slog through. Akron hosted Rehab Wednesday with two major league pitchers on rehab assignments, Carolina had a hard time scoring runs, and Lake County furiously tried to come back from a 9-3 deficit with a five-run ninth. The Carolina Mudcats scored two runs in the ninth inning, but came up one short in a 3-2 loss to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday night at TicketReturn.com Field. The loss was Carolina’s 14th in one-run finals this year, and second straight to the Pelicans. Myrtle Beach increased their Carolina League-best record to 29-16 while the Mudcats fell to 15-30 in the first half.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Edwin Garcia bounced an infield single inches past the glove of J.D. Reichenbach to plate the winning run as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans escaped the Carolina Mudcats 3-2 in 11 innings on Tuesday night at TicketReturn.com Field. Carolina (15-29) dropped their 13th game decided by one run, and fell to 1-3 in extra-inning games.
