Around the Farm: April 23, 2014
Jose Ramirez, power hitter? The International League has been kind to Ramirez so far in 2014, as the infielder has put on an uncharacteristic power show. But Ramirez reminded us of the other parts of his game Wednesday, showing off his wheels and on-base ability. Join Jim Piascik as he analyzes Ramirez's night, Dorssys Paulino's talent shining through in Lake County, and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Akron RubberDucks fall short against Trenton Thunder, 9-5
After giving up eight runs through the first four innings, the Akron RubberDucks made a desperate comeback attempt, but fell short as they lost to the Trenton Thunder, 9-5. Tyler Naquin tallied three hits, as did Tyler Holt, but the 12 total hits for the team were not enough to make up for a 1-11 showing with runners in scoring position.

RubberDucks blow late lead, lose 4-3 to Thunder
With momentum on their side heading into a four-game set with the Trenton Thunder, the Akron RubberDucks were looking to stay hot and gain some ground in the Western Division of the Eastern League. Following back-to-back nights in which the pitching staff blew leads, the momentum has officially faded and the RubberDucks have dropped the first two games of the series. On Tuesday, Akron held a lead through seven innings, but the Thunder put up three runs in the bottom half of the lead to secure a 4-3 victory.

Akron RubberDucks Open Series at Trenton with 5-2 Loss
Four Trenton pitchers combined on a three-hitter against the Akron RubberDucks Monday night, as the Thunder claimed a 5-2 victory in the opening game of a four-game series at Arm and Hammer Park. Lefty Jeremy Bleich (2-2), whom the RubberDucks beat last Wednesday at Canal Park, earned the win, tossing 5 1/3 innings, and allowing just a pair of singles and two unearned runs. Bleich walked two and struck out four. He retired the side in order three times.

Urshela, Arias power RubberDucks to 3-1 victory against Bowie
The Akron RubberDucks improved to two games over .500 after beating the Bowie Baysox, 3-1, Saturday. Akron's offense was powered by home runs from Giovanny Urshella, his team-high third on the year, and Alex Lavisky. Starter Gabriel Arias pitched six strong innings, giving up just five hits and no walks, while reliever Duke von Schamann fanned four in three innings to pick up the save.

RubberDucks storm back for 7-6 victory over Baysox
Tyler Naquin’s perfect, one-hop throw to catcher Tony Wolters with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday retired Bowie’s Sharlon Schoop to end the game and secure a 7-6 RubberDucks victory at Prince George’s Stadium. The WAR Room: The 2013 Akron Aeros/RubberDucks hitters
To start off The WAR Room, Jim Piascik will be going back to 2013 and going over last year's performances. Ideally this is something that would happen in the offseason, but since he was not able to compute these stats earlier, they have to run now. Join Jim as he goes over the 2013 Akron Aeros/RubberDucks, a team that was filled with high-end prospects like Carlos Moncrief, Jesus Aguilar, Jose Ramirez, and many more.

Around the Farm: April 17, 2014
In Adam Plutko's first start, he had the run prevention without the dominance. In his second start, he had the strikeouts, but not the run prevention. So what happened in Plutko's third start Thursday night? The 2013 11th round draft pick and College World Series champion put it all together. Join Jim Piascik as he looks at Plutko's overall brilliance, a few notable season debuts (including Clint Frazier day), and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

RubberDucks rally to beat Baysox 3-2
After splitting three series and losing one outright in 2014, the Akron RubberDucks were looking for a victory to set the tone for the series. Akron was able to do just that taking the opening game of the three-game series with a 3-2 win on Thursday. Akron’s hurlers have now allowed just eight runs in the past four games, and continued that success on Thursday as Will Roberts, Tyler Sturdevant and Kyle Crockett combined to throw a six hit, two-run performance.

Around the Farm: April 16, 2014
Thanks to some bad weather Tuesday night, Akron, Carolina, and Lake County had doubleheaders Wednesday. With seven games on the slate throughout the system, there was plenty of action on the minor league front. Join Jim Piascik as he breaks it all down, including yet another dominant Trevor Bauer start, Ryan Merritt continuing to put up strong outings, and much more as he takes you on a lengthy trip Around the Farm.

Akron RubberDucks split doubleheader with Trenton Thunder
After snowfall postponed Tuesday's matchup, the Akron RubberDucks braved the elements Wednesday to take on the Trenton Thunder in a double header. Akron took the first game, but lost the second 1-0 as both offenses stalled. While the RubberDucks pitching staff performed well in both games, the Thunder still clinched the series victory.
