Aeros hold on for a 4-3 victory
Just like Saturday night, the Aeros took a 3-run lead into the 9th inning, but unlike that game, the Aeros held on to defeat the New Britain Rock Cats 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park despite a Rock Cat rally in the final inning.

Aeros fall 12-7 in extra innings

Lowery rebounding from tough 2012, showing promise in Akron
One could be forgiven for selling their Jake Lowery stock after 2012. The catcher was presented with a challenging assignment and simply could not manage it, ending the year with a demotion and plenty of questions. So far in 2013, though, Lowery has shown that last year was a fluke. Given another aggressive promotion due to injuries, Lowery filled in admirably and bounced back in a strong way. He recently talked to Jim Piascik about what Double-A is like, his approach at the plate and behind it, and much more.

Around The Farm: June 20, 2013
With both the Columbus and Akron offenses hitting the skids, Around The Farm needed some extra help to remain interesting Thursday night. Luckily the start of the Arizona League, the return of Lake County from the All-Star break, and offensive fireworks for Mahoning Valley provided some fodder for us. The night was highlighted by a Lake County catcher showing off his power in a big way. To find out who it is and all you need to know about the night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.

Turley, Thunder finish sweep, shut out Aeros 1-0
Coming into this three-game series with the Trenton Thunder, the Akron Aeros were riding high after going over .500 for the first time since May 12. Now, as the Thunder leave town, the Aeros have more work to do. The Thunder (36-35) finished a sweep of the Aeros (34-37) with a 1-0 victory Thursday night at Canal Park. One night after the two teams combined for 25 hits offense was at a premium, with only nine hits falling in all night long.

Around The Farm: June 19, 2013
After Tim Fedroff tore up the minor leagues in 2012, many expected great things from the outfielder in 2013. Fedroff got off to a slow start, but that is never a reason to give up hope completely. Lately, the outfielder has been coming around and Wednesday night was no exception. To see exactly how Fedroff fared last night, which Akron outfielder continues to prove he needs a promotion, and the rest of the action in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.

Four-run fourth lets Thunder power past Aeros 5-3
The Akron Aeros (34-36) squared the ball up well Wednesday night, totaling 13 hits, but the team failed to score enough runs to overcome the Trenton Thunder (35-35), falling 5-3 at Canal Park. The game featured plenty of offense with Akron and Trenton combining for 25 hits, though both teams failed to actually get many runners across the plate.

Launching off with the Aeros: 6/11/13 – 6/17/13
The Akron Aeros found success despite being away from Canal Park all week, going 3-2 during their road trip to New Hampshire and Portland and moving back to .500 on the season. The offense put up some remarkable power and discipline as it carried the team, though the pitching for its part did not slouch. To read about all the action for the Aeros and the outfielder that just may be coming into his own, join Jim Piascik and go Launching off with the Aeros.

It was business as usual down on the farm for the Indians on Saturday night. Cord Phelps remained hot, Lonnie Chisenhall is making it very difficult for the Indians to keep him in Columbus, and more. The IBI's Michal Hattery chimes in with his thoughts on the action in the minors.

Cooper is a man of many roles on the Akron pitching staff
Routine is tough when toggling between a starting and relieving role, but Jordan Cooper has learned to focus on the things he can control. Since being promoted from High-A Carolina at the end of April he has put on several different hats for the Double-A Akron pitching staff, and the IBI's Stephanie Metzger gets us caught up on how things are going for him in Akron.
