Aeros win, magic number down to three
Akron’s Brett Brach pitches seven shutout innings against Altoona and the Aeros scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 3-1 victory Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Aeros (79-57) defeated the Curve (66-70) to lower the magic number for clinching the EL West crown to three with six games left to play.

Your Akron Aeros lost five of their eight games over the past week, but that hurts a lot less when coupled with the fact that they clinched a playoff spot as well! Salazar good again, Aeros split doubleheader
kron’s Danny Salazar pitched six solid innings in game one of a doubleheader at Altoona Monday night, as the Aeros claimed a 4-1 victory. The Curve stormed back in game two, however, winning 7-1, to gain the split. The Aeros (78-57) lowered the magic number for clinching the EL West crown to four with seven games to play.

Trenton leadoff hitter Adonis Garcia singled home the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning Sunday, leading the Thunder to a 3-2 win over the Akron Aeros at Canal Park.

Akron trims Trenton, 4-3
Akron shortstop Ryan Rohlinger had two hits, including a two-RBI single, as the Aeros beat the Trenton Thunder, 4-3, Saturday night at Canal Park. After losing the first two games of the best-of-four series against Trenton, the Aeros won just their second game in their last six.

Trenton shuts down the Aeros, 3-0
Three Trenton pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout Thursday night, as the Thunder blanked the Akron Aeros, 3-0, at Canal Park. In a match-up of the current division leaders in the Eastern League, and thus a potential championship preview, the Thunder claimed the first game of the four-game weekend series.

Aguilar homers, Aeros win 6-4
Second baseman Ryan Rohlinger went 4-for-4 Wednesday leading the Aeros to a 6-4 victory over the Erie Seawolves. Rohlinger boasted two singles, a double and his sixth homerun on the season to help the Aeros bounce back from two straight losses against the Seawolves. Jesus Aguilar snagged his first Double-A homer in the top of the second inning to put Akron up to a hasty 1-0 lead.

Tony chimes in with a new edition of the IPI Hot List, a piece that will become a weekly staple next season and ranks the top 20 performances in the Indians' system from the past seven days. In no way does it rank or list players based on value; it is simply a snapshot of the top 20 performances from the past week without any discrimination regarding whether a player is a prospect or not. Aeros lose on walkoff blast, 3-2
Erie’s Tony Plagman drilled a two-out, game-winning, solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, sending the SeaWolves into celebration mode with a 3-2 win over the Akron Aeros at Jerry Uht Park. With the bases empty, Plagman, a third year pro out of Georgia Tech, yanked a 2-1 pitch from Rob Bryson over the right field fence for the game-winner.

Launching Off With The Aeros: 8/14/12-8/20/12
Double-A Akron is cruising in first place as they now have less than two weeks until the end of the regular season. They are all but sure to be in the playoffs and they have several players on the roster that have played better of late. Nathan Kemp steps in for Jimmy Piascik this week and talks Aeros in the IPI weekly notebook "Launching off with the Aeros".

House, Aeros struggle early, lose 5-2
Akron starter T.J. House pitched just one inning and Erie designated hitter Tony Plagman had two doubles and an RBI as the SeaWolves beat the Aeros, 5-2, on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park. House (7-4, 3.72) walked the bases loaded to begin the game as the SeaWolves piled on four in the first.

Akron rolls over Reading, 10-4
First baseman Jesus Aguilar had two RBI’s as the Akron Aeros defeated the Reading Phillies, 10-4, Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.
With the win, Akron took two of three games against the R-Phils, lowering the team’s magic number for clinching the Eastern League Western Division to 10.

Mudcats implode against Myrtle Beach
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans scored four runs, needing only one hit, over the final innings to beat the Carolina Mudcats 5-2 on Sunday night at TicketReturn.com Field. The win assured the Pelicans (33-23, 69-57) of the weekend series, and vaults them six games ahead of the Mudcats for the Southern division wildcard spot.

Akron tops Harrisburg, 4-1
Akron’s Tyler Holt had three hits, including an RBI triple, on Thursday night as the Aeros completed a three-game sweep of the Harrisburg Senators, winning 4-1at Metro Bank Park.
