Akron and Richmond took the field Sunday afternoon for game two of their four game series, as the Aeros were shut out 6-0 by the visiting Flying Squirrels.The Flying Squirrels had four pitchers combine for the shutout, none more impressive than starter Michael Kickham (6-6), who picked up the win pitching six innings, giving up five hits and striking out seven.

Akron Aeros reliever Bryce Stowell has been tearing up the Eastern League and should have a chance at sniffing the big leagues either as a September callup or in 2013. The Aeros ended their game against Richmond with a bang Saturday night, both literally and figuratively, winning 6-4 on Fireworks Night at Canal Park. With a crowd of 5,190 in attendance, the Aeros looked to get back on track after losing four of their last five games, and won the first game of four in their series with Richmond in dramatic fashion.

The Akron Aeros fell to the Erie SeaWolves, 5-4, in 10 innings. With the loss, the Aeros lost three of four games in the series against the SeaWolves. Erie has dominated the season-series, winning nine of 14 games. Following a loss by the Harrisburg Senators and a win by the Bowie Baysox, the Aeros now have a 7.5 game lead over both teams in the Eastern League Western Division.

The Aeros now lead the Eastern League Western Division by 7.5 games.

The Aeros fell to the Curve 13-8, surrendering a split in the series with the Curve Monday night at People’s Natural Gas Field. Altoona shortstop Kelson Brown hit a pair of home runs to help the Curve defeat the Aeros in the series finale. Brown, who ended the day 3-for-3, entered the game in the third inning after shortstop Brock Holt was hit by a pitch and then ejected while walking up the first-base line.

Double-A Akron outfielder Jordan Henry was recently activated from the disabled list after missing the first two months because he was rehabbing from surgery to his right knee. Now that he is back playing and is healthy again, he is looking to find consistency in his game and once again be a threat on the basepaths. A day after suffering their worst defeat of the season, the Aeros came back in a big way Sunday night with one of their best offensive outputs of the season, smoking the Curve 15-4, at People’s Natural Gas Field. The Aeros matched a season-high with 19 hits, including six doubles. Akron hitters were 9-22 with runners in scoring position, and the 15-run outburst was one short of the team’s season high.
