Erie’s Tony Plagman drilled a two-out, game-winning, solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, sending the SeaWolves into celebration mode with a 3-2 win over the Akron Aeros at Jerry Uht Park. With the bases empty, Plagman, a third year pro out of Georgia Tech, yanked a 2-1 pitch from Rob Bryson over the right field fence for the game-winner.

Double-A Akron is cruising in first place as they now have less than two weeks until the end of the regular season. They are all but sure to be in the playoffs and they have several players on the roster that have played better of late. First baseman Jesus Aguilar had two RBI’s as the Akron Aeros defeated the Reading Phillies, 10-4, Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.
With the win, Akron took two of three games against the R-Phils, lowering the team’s magic number for clinching the Eastern League Western Division to 10.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans scored four runs, needing only one hit, over the final innings to beat the Carolina Mudcats 5-2 on Sunday night at TicketReturn.com Field. The win assured the Pelicans (33-23, 69-57) of the weekend series, and vaults them six games ahead of the Mudcats for the Southern division wildcard spot.
