The Aeros opened their three game homestand against the Harrisburg Senators with a 5-4 comeback win Monday night at Canal Park behind a big sixth inning and some quality relief pitching from the bullpen. The Aeros (56-39) won for the fourth straight time, and increased their lead over the second-place Senators to seven games in the EL West. Harrisburg lost their third consecutive game.

A new feature being tested out on the IPI today, one that ranks the top 20 performances in the Indians' entire farm system from the past week. Tony gives some thoughts and insight on those performances, a list that includes the likes of Giovanni Soto, Luigi Rodriguez, Jordan Smith, Jeanmar Gomez, Jake Sisco, Matt Packer, Steven Wright, Bo Greenwell and lots more.

Giovanni Soto, the starting pitcher acquired in the Jhonny Peralta trade in 2010, pitched the first-ever solo no-hitter in Canal Park history. Soto, who has been alternating between spectacular and frustrating over his career, moved his record to 8-8 on the season. The 21-year-old dropped his ERA nearly a half a run, lowering it to 3.73. In 2009, Kyle Landis was an up-and-comer in the Indians' organization. In 2010, a mystery ailment left Landis with a numb throwing arm, and nobody knew the answers. Landis missed the season, but after several months of treatment, Landis returned in 2011 and put himself back on the Indians' prospect map. The Indians traded Jhonny Peralta to the Detroit Tigers for a soft-tossing, 19-year-old Giovanni Soto in 2010. Soto has gone under the radar since the deal, but things are likely to change after he pitched the first no-hitter in Akron since Jeanmar Gomez threw a perfect game in 2009.

Akron jumped to a 4-2 lead, and the game seemed to be in control until Loek Van Mil left the game with injury. Rob Bryson replaced him, and the adventure ensued. Bryson would give up a run, but would mow down the Curve by striking out the next three to get ouf of the jam, and give the Aeros the victory.

Recent callup Tyler Holt may not overwhelm you with power numbers and moonshots, but he is one of the harder workers in the organization. Holt gets on base, plays good defense, and generally is a dirtbag-type player (like one Jason Kipnis) that fans love to get behind. Holt may or may not reach that level, but one thing is for certain: he won't stop trying and caring. Jim Piascik talked with Holt before his home debut in Akron to talk about his approach, controlling his emotions, and adjusting to a new locker room.

Akron, OH — Akron knuckleballer Steven Wright took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Friday night, picking up his seventh win of the season as the Aeros shut out the Altoona Curve, 3-0, at Canal Park.

When it rains, it pours. After a 1 ½ hour rain delay before the start of the game, the Curve came from behind to beat the Aeros 3-2 in 12 innings Thursday night at Canal Park. Akron (52-39) mustered only three hits off of Altoona’s pitching staff, which went 11 scoreless innings and kept the Curve in a position to gut one out the entire night.

The Akron Aeros won the third and final game of their series with the Bowie Baysox behind some big-time hitting from first baseman Adam Abraham, who drove in three runs to pace Akron in a 4-2 win Monday afternoon at Prince George’s Stadium.

BOWIE, MD – Led by a record-setting night from shortstop Juan Diaz, the Akron Aeros downed the Bowie Baysox 11-8 at Prince George’s Stadium Sunday night. Diaz recorded eight RBIs, becoming only the third Aero to ever accomplish the feat.

After the Akron Aeros got on the board early in the first inning, the Bowie Baysox scored seven unanswered runs to defeat the Aeros, 7-1, in the opener of a three-game series at Prince George’s Stadium. Akron continued its struggles just games before the Eastern League All-Star break. The Aeros have now dropped nine of their last 12 games and have just a 2.5 game lead in the EL Western Division.

The Erie SeaWolves fought back from a three-run deficit, riding six unanswered runs to a 6-3 win over the Akron Aeros in the final game of a three-game series Friday night at Jerry Uht Park. The Aeros (50-37) lost two of three against the SeaWolves (42-43) to complete the first half of their current road trip.

The Akron Aeros lost a tough back-and-forth battle, 8-6, to the Erie Seawolves Thursday on the road at Jerry Uht Park. Both the Aeros and the Seawolves put eleven hits on the board, but a clutch single by Erie designated hitter Rawley Bishop in the bottom of the eighth inning would seal the deal for the Seawolves.
