Schwinden stellar in Clippers victory
After dropping two tough games on Friday, the Columbus Clippers bounced back Saturday night with a 6-1 win over the Gwinnett Braves. Much of the credit for the victory goes to Clippers starter Chris Schwinden (4-5, 2.70 ERA), who pitched seven stellar innings and allowed just one run on three hits. He walked just one and struck out three in the win.

Kluber, Clippers shut out Gwinnett, 4-0
Behind one big inning--one big hit, really--the Clippers defeated the Gwinnett Braves on Thursday night. Columbus had a four-run sixth inning and got a very solid outing from left-hander Corey Kluber. With the 4-0 victory, the Clippers took game one of the four-game set between the two clubs.

Catastrophic inning dooms Clippers in 13-6 loss
It was a promising start for the Clippers in Huntington Park, but one catastrophic inning would ultimately be too much to overcome. Columbus (30-35) fell to the Charlotte Knights (39-28) by a final score of 13-6 on Tuesday, and much of the Knights’ offense came courtesy of a fourth inning explosion in which they scored seven runs.

Minor Happenings: Tice is powering his way to a promotion
A bit of a catch-up posting today in Minor Happenings as this bi-weekly column was absent last week due to the insane amount of draft coverage on the site. In today’s Happenings, Tony takes a look at the recent hot performances from right-hander Mason Radeke and designated hitter Jeremie Tice, gets some more post-draft comments from Brad Grant, and provides some updates on players like Tyler Holt, Shawn Morimando, Nick Weglarz, and others.

Clippers fall short to the Knights, 4-2
A rainy afternoon in Columbus turned into a sunny and warm evening at Huntington Park, but the Clippers bats remained cool for a majority of their game against the Charlotte Knights. Columbus (30-34) failed to extend its winning streak to four, falling to the Knights, 4-2, in game three of a four-game set between the clubs.

Columbus overcomes 4-0 deficit to win 5-4
It was a matchup between two ball clubs that weren’t at the top of their game, but sometimes it’s a matter of making just one less mistake than the other team. That was certainly the case on Sunday, as the Columbus Clippers (30-33) came back to beat the Charlotte Knights (37-28) by a final score of 5-4 after trailing 4-0. It is Columbus’ third straight win.

McAllister, three homers, lead Columbus to 4-3 victory
For a couple seconds Saturday night, the second largest crowd of the season at Huntington Park didn’t know what to do. Columbus shortstop Gregorio Petit had just launched a towering drive down the left-field line, but the fans remained silent, as they, and many of the players and coaches, weren’t sure if the hit was fair or foul.

Clippers find their stroke, win 9-1
For the Columbus Clippers, their four-game series against the Buffalo Bisons has been one of offensive ups and downs. After exploding for 21 runs on Tuesday, the next two games proved to be far more challenging at the plate. The offense came back around on Friday, as the Clippers (28-33) defeated the Bisons (35-27) by a final score of 9-1.
