The Midwest League has announced their mid-season All Star teams and the Lake County Captains have three representatives on the Eastern Division squad. Francisco Lindor will be the starting shortstop on the squad and he will be joined by starting pitchers Cody Anderson and Joe Colon at the All Star game on June 19 at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, IL which is the home of the Kane County Cougars.
Today the Indians announced that catcher Carlos Santana has been placed on Major League Baseball’s new 7-day disabled list for concussion. They purchases the contract of Triple-A Columbus catcher Luke Carlin and added him to the roster. To make room on the 40-man roster for Carlin, left-handed pitcher Rafael Perez has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day Disabled List.
The move is not official, but the IPI has received word that Double-A Akron outfielder Jared Goedert has been called up to Triple-A Columbus. With Akron off on Thursday, the move will not be made official until Friday or maybe even Saturday if he arrives later than expected. In 35 games with Akron, Goedert is hitting .395 with 5 HR, 17 RBI and 1.089 OPS, and he has 20 walks to go along with 20 strikeouts in 124 at bats.
The Indians have called up Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Jeremy Accardo to fill the spot on the 25-man roster and in the bullpen after right-hander Dan Wheeler was designated for assignment yesterday.
