On Tuesday the Indians officially released that they inked nine players from their 2012 Draft. Tony provides updates on several of the other unsigned picks and who may be the next group of players signed. He has information from at least five other players that they will soon sign (or may have already signed), and he also updates an error reported from another news outlet on a player that is still very much in the mix for the Indians to sign.
Right-handed pitcher Jacob Lee, the Indians 9th round pick in this year's draft, is one of the newest members of their farm system. The draft was an emotional high for him, especially after such a big low last season when he was not drafted. Tony talked to Lee a couple of days ago and welcomes him to the Indians' family.
The Indians have yet to announce any official signings, but as many as nine players (maybe more) have already signed or agreed to sign. Tony gives an update on another player that has signed as well as some other signing updates.
A bit of a catch-up posting today in Minor Happenings as this bi-weekly column was absent last week due to the insane amount of draft coverage on the site. In today’s Happenings, Tony takes a look at the recent hot performances from right-hander Mason Radeke and designated hitter Jeremie Tice, gets some more post-draft comments from Brad Grant, and provides some updates on players like Tyler Holt, Shawn Morimando, Nick Weglarz, and others.

The Indians have been quite busy racking up the frequent flyer miles the past few days as they have dispatched several scouts to all corners of the country to negotiate deals or get players to sign on the dotted line. Tony has another update on a player that has officially signed, another player that is very likely to sign, and more. Three players are already in the fold and more are coming.
This is a continuation from part one of Tony's Q&A that he had with Indians Vice President of Scouting John Mirabelli on Thursday. Part one posted yesterday, and in part two today Mirabelli talks about the new CBA and the effect it had on the draft this year, the learning process the Indians went through with this new wrinkle in the draft, his son Tommy being drafted, and much more.
Here is the IPI's 2012 Draft page that has everything you need to know about each of the Indians' 40 selections in this year's draft. This page has all of the player information in one place with link outs to each player's draft page that has information, capsules, scouting reports, video, and so on.
Tony had a chance to sit down with John Mirabelli yesterday, the Indians Vice President of Scouting, and they touched on a plethora of topics surrounding the 2012 Draft. In today's first of two parts, Tony and Mirabelli discuss lots of things with this year's draft from the selection of Tyler Naquin, the absence of any left-handed pitching selections, how they prepared for the draft, and lots more.
Tony continues to provide lots of updates on players from the Indians' 2012 Draft and their signing status. Some players are signing right away, others will drag out until the July 13th deadline, and some players will be followed this summer for consideration later. Updates on Dylan Baker, Joe Wendle, Jacob Lee, Nelson Rodriguez, Louis Head, and Nick Pasquale are provided in today's update.
The 2012 MLB Draft is over, and with that the Cleveland Indians have 40 new players that could potentially become official members of the organization. Tony gives a quick recap of the final day of the draft and also provides some comments from scouts on players. While no signings have been made official as of this moment, Tony also has the first word on several potential signings. He'll also be talking with John Mirabelli, Brad Grant, and others over the next few days, so lots more draft updates are coming!
