While the big league Indians may have swept the pale hose in a doubleheader at Comiskey Park (or whatever they call that place nowadays), it was a far different story in the farm system, where an Aeros victory was all that prevented an organizational sweep. So grab an airsickness bag and join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he takes you on a turbulent ride Around The Farm...
All of the Indians affiliates were in action on Thursday night, including Columbus who had a doubleheader. There were several good and not so good performances on the night, but the one that really stood out was the start that left-hander Luis Lugo had for Mahoning Valley. Eric Haase and others also continue to make strides...
The Indians had a busy night on the farm as everyone was in action, although Columbus was suspended after three innings because of rain. Wonderkid Clint Frazier was back in the lineup on Wednesday after his multi-hit debut on Tuesday, and Joey Wendle continues to hit well at Carolina. Tony shares thoughts on both of them and more in ATF....
The wait is over. The Indians' 2013 first round pick Clint Frazier made his professional debut Tuesday for the AZL Indians, and let's just say it was one of the more memorable debuts in recent memory. Plus, Chris Perez turned in a perfect rehab outing for Mahoning Valley, and it looks like he could be on his way back to Cleveland. Join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he recaps these performances and more as he takes you Around the Farm.
On Monday Night, the Indians pulled out two wins, and both in a dramatic fashion. The Mudcats managed to win their first second half game, and in walk-off fashion. Lake County overcame getting two-hit on the night to pull out a 1-0 win. There are some interesting names on the board tonight, with Joe Wendle leading the way thanks to a new power surge.
There were some major players in Sunday's ATF, as several top prospects had a big night for the Indians' organization. All the affiliates save the Carolina Mudcats won, giving lots of opportunities for solid performances. Leading the way on Sunday was a left-handed starter that is surging, a reliever that's making a case for time in the bigs, and perhaps the best prospect in all of baseball. Join Jim Pete for this Sunday's ATF.
It was a very busy night around the Indians' farm system on Saturday night as every affiliate was in action. There were a number of top performances as Jerrud Sabourin continued to impress as the undrafted wonder while Ronny Rodriguez showed why his prospect status continues to rise. Plus, utility man Cord Phelps continued to dig himself out from his early season slump. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he covers all these performances and more as he takes you Around the Farm.
Some familiar names made an appearance in Friday night's Around the Farm, headlined by the hot hitting Ronny Rodriguez. The Akron middle infielder has been filling up the stat sheet in June. Jeremy Hermida, Danny Salazar, Jose Ramirez, Jesus Aguilar, Carlos Moncrief, C.C. Lee, Francisco Lindor and Tyler Naquin all make an appearance on a busy night of organizational work. Join Arthur Kinney for Friday's ATF...
With both the Columbus and Akron offenses hitting the skids, Around The Farm needed some extra help to remain interesting Thursday night. Luckily the start of the Arizona League, the return of Lake County from the All-Star break, and offensive fireworks for Mahoning Valley provided some fodder for us. The night was highlighted by a Lake County catcher showing off his power in a big way. To find out who it is and all you need to know about the night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.
After Tim Fedroff tore up the minor leagues in 2012, many expected great things from the outfielder in 2013. Fedroff got off to a slow start, but that is never a reason to give up hope completely. Lately, the outfielder has been coming around and Wednesday night was no exception. To see exactly how Fedroff fared last night, which Akron outfielder continues to prove he needs a promotion, and the rest of the action in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.
Indians closer Chris Perez is set to make his Major League return sometime later this week, and he made his second rehab appearance Tuesday as he pitched an inning of relief for the Akron Aeros. How did the appearance go? Well, let's just it's our headliner in today's ATF. But remember, that's not always a good thing... Join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he recaps Perez's performance and more as he takes you Around the Farm.
There are days when this job is fun, and there are days when you just want to call it a night. Tonight, unfortunately, it was the latter, as the only two Indians' affiliates that were playing combined for eight total hits, and were both shut-out. There really was no joy in Mudville tonight, but there was one multi-hit performance, and an interesting start of note for a potential high upside lefty. Join Jim Pete for Monday Night's ATF.
You really have to love the nights when all of the affiliates lose. Tonight was such a night, but one player really stood out as a potential break-out candidate if he can continue to play at the high level that he's been performing at over the past month. Join Jim Pete as he takes a look at Lonnie Chisenhall, Jordan Smith, Chris Perez and even Daisuke Matsuzaka in the Sunday edition of ATF.
It was business as usual down on the farm for the Indians on Saturday night. Cord Phelps remained hot, Lonnie Chisenhall is making it very difficult for the Indians to keep him in Columbus, and more. The IBI's Michal Hattery chimes in with his thoughts on the action in the minors.
