Audy Ciriaco hit a RBI single in the first that gave the Columbus Clippers (78-65) the lead and then a three-run homer in the seventh that put it out of reach in a 5-1 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens (69-73) on Sunday night in front of 9,894 at Huntington Park.

The Indianapolis Indians (72-70) used a four-run eighth inning to defeat the Columbus Clippers (77-65) 4-2 on Saturday night at Victory Field. Jaff Decker lined a single to left with the bases loaded and one out in the eighth inning to give Indianapolis the lead off of Jordan Cooper (0-1, 4.91).

Gabriel Arias came back from recent struggles to throw seven innings and allow two runs (one earned), but it was not enough and the Columbus Clippers dropped the opener of a three game series to the Indianapolis Indians 2-1 on Thursday night at Victory Field. The Clippers committed two errors, one a fielding error by the first baseman and the other a wild pickoff attempt, which led to the first run scored by Indianapolis.

James Ramsey hit a go-head double in the fifth and the Columbus Clippers (74-62) held on for a 4-3 victory over the Indianapolis Indians (68-68) in front of 9,879 at Huntington Park on Sunday night. With the game tied at one to start the Clippers fifth, Luke Carlin led off with a double off the wall in right. The next batter, Ramsey laced a double to left to put the Clippers in front.

Francisco Lindor, Justin Sellers and Audy Ciriaco combined for eight of the Columbus Clippers (73-61) nine hits in a 5-2 win over the Louisville Bats (64-70) on Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Down a run in the ninth, the Columbus Clippers (72-61) put up five runs in the ninth to turn back the Louisville Bats (64-69) 9-6 at Louisville Slugger Field on Thursday night. In a back-and-forth battle, the Clippers loaded the bases with one out in the ninth down 5-4 off of reliever Fabio Castillo (2-1, 2.50). Justin Freeman replaced Castillo and got Francisco Lindor to hit a sacrifice fly to deep center, tying the game. It was the 20th blown save by the Louisville pitching staff.

The Columbus Clippers tied the Toledo Mud Hens at one in the fifth inning, but Toledo managed eight runs in the final four innings on its way to a 9-1 victory. Columbus gave up a total of 13 hits while tallying just seven base knocks itself. Kyle Davies took the loss for the Clippers after giving up four earned runs.

The last time the Columbus Clippers (69-58) faced Toledo Mud Hens (62-65) starter Derek Hankins, he shut them down for 8.2 innings and held them to a run. But Giovanny Urshela and the rest of the Clippers offense got a measure of payback on Friday night in a 6-2 win at Fifth Third Field.

After the Columbus Clippers took an early 2-0 lead, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs came back to move ahead 3-2 before a three-run third inning put Columbus back ahead for good. James Ramsey sparked the clippers by going 5 for 5 with four RBIs, one home run and two doubles. Kyle Davies picked up the win while Bryan Price got the hold and Mark Lowe was credited with the save.

Fortunately for the Clippers, that fourth inning yielded six runs to power Columbus to a 6-1 win and erase an early deficit. First impressions are so important in life and they’re pretty important in baseball too. Dusty Brown made a powerful first impression in his debut with the Columbus Clippers (62-56) on Tuesday afternoon. He hit two home runs, including one that broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning and sent the Clippers to a 3-1 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox (64-54) in the finale at McCoy Stadium.

The trade deadline came and went and the Cleveland Indians shipped off a pair of veterans. In exchange, they got young talent in the form of infielder Zach Walters and outfielder James Ramsey. The reinforcements arrived on Friday night at Huntington Park, but it was not enough as the Columbus Clippers (59-55) lost the series finale 5-4 to the Louisville Bats (56-58) in front of 10,600 in attendance. With the loss, the Clippers finished off a 2-5 home stand.
