Mudcats Notebook: Morimando is showing a lot of progress
A rough stretch of the season for the Carolina Mudcats continued for another week as the team went just 2-5 on the week. The IBI's Zachary Francis gets us all caught up with the week that was for the Mudcats, who is playing well and who is not, and also sat down with talented lefty Shawn Morimando to get his thoughts on his performance to date.

Mudcats Notebook: Hankins is showing versatility, performance
The Carolina Mudcats started off the week by getting swept in a double header by the Wilmington Blue Rocks, which accurately summed up the week for the team. Carolina only managed two wins on the week, going 2-6. The IBI's Zachary Francis recaps the week that was, provides all the news and notes from the week and recently sat down with Todd Hankins to get his thoughts on his recent play of late.

Mudcats giveaway late lead, fall to Pelicans, 5-4
Despite leading 3-0 through seven innings, the Carolina Mudcats allowed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to score five times in the final two innings to win 5-3 on Sunday night. With the score tied at three in the top of the ninth inning, the Pelicans scored twice with the bases loaded on a walk and a hit batsman to grab their first lead of the game.

Carolina Mudcats take early lead, but lose 6-2 to Myrtle Beach
After taking a 2-1 lead, the Carolina Mudcats fell back before losing to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 6-2. Carolina starter Shawn Morimando pitched six innings of four-hit, two-run ball, but the bullpen did him no favors as Rob Nixon pitched just two-thirds of an inning and gave up three hits and four runs. Carolina finished the game with 11 hits but three errors.

Sulser, Mudcats take out Pelicans, 7-2
Thanks to dominant pitching by right-hander Cole Sulser, and a strong offensive performance the Carolina Mudcats emerged as 7-2 victors in their first contest against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Mudcats Notebook: Merritt is topping the league leaderboard
The normal comforts of home were not had by the Carolina Mudcats this past week as they struggled to just a 1-4 record before traveling to Wilmington for the start of a three game set and dropped the first game. The IBI's Zachary Francis recaps the week that was for the Carolina Mudcats, gets us caught up with Ryan Merritt's nice season to date, and highlights all of the important news and notes for the team.

Brown, Mudcats rocked by Wilmington, 8-4
D.J. Brown and the Carolina Mudcats lost 8-4 to the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game road trip. The Mudcats simply couldn't keep up with the Blue Rocks offensively as they fell behind and never recovered.

Mudcats beat Red Sox in pitching duel 3-1, snap skid
The Carolina Mudcats made a three-run second inning hold up as they snapped a season-high four-game losing streak in a 3-1 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Mudcats brought their record on the season back to .500 (20-20).

Mudcats Notebook: Gallas is leading the Mudcats charge
This week, the Carolina Mudcats managed a 4-3 record, with two victories against both Lynchburg and Salem. Carolina also dropped two games to the Red Sox and one to the Hillcats. Carolina Mudcats lose scoring fest to Lynchburg Hillcats, 11-8
After striking in the first inning, the Carolina Mudcats gave up back-to-back four-run frames to the Lynchburg Hillcats Monday. The game ended with an 11-8 Lynchburg victory after Carolina starter Cole Sulser posted a line of 2.2 innings, eight hits and eight runs – six earned. Jerrud Sabourin led the offense with three hits, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 16-hit night from the Hillcats.

Carolina Mudcats lose early lead, game to Salem Red Sox
The Carolina Mudcats fell to the Salem Red Sox, 5-3, after holding an early lead. Starter D.J. Brown gave up five earned runs en route to the loss. Jeremy Lucas tallied two hits and Logan Vick added a home run, but it wasn't enough to bring Carolina back into the game.

Fishing for Mudcats: Lucas is leading the Mudcats charge
The Carolina Mudcats were an even 3-3 this past week. They took the first game of the home series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks before dropping the next three to lose the series; however, Carolina has been able to bounce back in a big way, taking the first two games against the Lynchburg Hillcats on the road. Carolina Mudcats drop Lynchburg behind two Jeremy Lucas bombs
The Carolina Mudcats demolished the Lynchburg Hillcats, 10-3, Monday behind a powerful offensive showing. Jeremy Lucas launched two home runs and Luigi Rodriguez added another to lead the charge. Lucas, Anthony Gallas and Jerrud Salbourin all finished with two hits and Michael Peoples pitched 5.1 innings.

Mudcats fall to Blue Rocks 3-1 in pitchers' duel
After a rough start, the Carolina Mudcats settled down, but could not rally losing 3-1 to the Wilmington Blue Rocks in a pitcher’s duel on Friday night. With the loss, Carolina fell to 13-11 on the season.

Fishing for Mudcats: 4/23/14 - 4/29/14
The Carolina Mudcats found an opponent they could not defeat this week: Mother Nature. Four of the team’s seven games were either postponed or cancelled due to rain. Otherwise, Carolina managed a .500 record for the week, earning one win against both Wilmington and Frederick, while also dropping a contest to both clubs. Mudcats pitching struggles in 10-3 loss to Keys
Despite holding an early lead, shaky pitching undid the Carolina Mudcats in a 10-3 loss to the Frederick Keys on Sunday afternoon. The loss marked the first time Carolina did not win in Frederick this season.

Fishing for Mudcats: 4/16/14 - 4/22/14
This past week, the Carolina Mudcats have played a lot of baseball competing in two doubleheaders and an extra inning game. The Mudcats were able to win four out of seven games, sweeping the Salem Red Sox in a doubleheader last Wednesday and taking two out of four against the Frederick Keys. Carlina Mudcats split doubleheader with Frederick Keys
After dropping the first game 4-3, the Carolina Mudcats took the second of a doubleheader from the Frederick Keys, 2-1. A wild sixth inning, including a hotly contested balk call, led to the win for Carolina. Mudcats' shortstop Erik Gonzalez had a strong day and extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Mudcats fall to Keys 3-1 in pitchers' duel
The Carolina Mudcats fell to the Frederick Keys 3-1 after 11 innings of play on Friday night at Five County Stadium. With a steady rain falling in the top half of the eleventh inning, two Keys were walked by left-hander Elvis Araujo. When it was all said and done both runners would come around to score to give the Keys a two-run victory.
