Clippers fall short of Chiefs 8-7
The Columbus Clippers' seven-game winning streak was snapped Thursday as they dropped a nail biter 8-7 in extra innings to the Syracuse Chiefs at Huntington Park. After an hour and one minute rain delay, the game finally started and boy, was it a rollercoaster ride. Throughout the contest's duration, there were three lead changes and two ties before the Chiefs finally prevailed.

Clippers outduel RailRiders 5-1
COLUMBUS- If there were to be a motto for the Columbus Clippers' game against the Scranton/WB RailRiders Tuesday, it would be "bend but don't break." Led by a dazzling performance by right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-0, 1.36 ERA), the Columbus pitching staff allowed 11 hits to the RailRiders but only gave up one run and emerged with a 5-1 victory.

Chen Walk-Off gives Clippers 6-5 12 inning victory

Clippers walk off in ninth, defeat RailRiders 4-3
It was a perfect ending to a perfect 77 degree night at Huntington Park Saturday. With the game tied at three in the bottom of the ninth inning, Columbus Clippers catcher Chris Wallace delivered a clutch two-out single to right field for a 4-3 walk off victory over the Scranton/WB RailRiders. Right fielder Matt Carson walked to begin the inning and then quickly swiped second to put himself into scoring position. Left fielder Cedric Hunter then laid a sacrifice bunt down the first base line to advance Carson to third. But with one swing of the bat, Wallace became a hero and did so in front of the Clippers’ first sellout crowd of the season.

Clippers don’t look back after seven-run first
A monster seven-run first inning fueled the Columbus Clippers as they defeated the Charlotte Knights 12-9 Thursday to split the four-game series. After taking a commanding 7-0 lead in the first, Charlotte came back to tie the game in the top of the third. The Clippers kept battling, however, as they regained the lead with four more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Knights trounce Clippers 8-3
Aside from three solo home runs, the Clipper bats struggled against Charlotte pitching as they fell 8-3 to the Knights on Wednesday. Clippers left-hander T.J. House (0-2, 7.88 ERA) lost his second-straight decision after allowing five earned runs on eight hits in six innings of work. Right-hander Zach Stewart (1-4, 4.22 ERA) had a fantastic outing for the Knights. In the six innings he pitched, the righty allowed just one earned run on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Hermida settling in with new team and working on consistency
After being selected as a No. 1 draft pick in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by the Florida Marlins, outfielder Jeremy Hermida was one of the most highly-touted prospects in the sport. Unfortunately, things just never really panned out the way many expected them to. After bouncing around the league the last few years he found his way into the Indians organization this year and is off to a good start at Triple-A Columbus. The IBI's Ethan Day recently sat down with him to get an update on things are going...

Clippers come up just short, fall to Red Wings 7-6
First baseman Matt LaPorta’s triumphant return to the Clippers lineup was not enough to earn his team the victory as Columbus fell to the Rochester Red Wings 7-6 Thursday. LaPorta, fresh off the disabled list after undergoing off-season surgery on his left hip, went 3-4 with a home run, two singles and two RBI. Red Wings right-hander P.J. Walters (3-2, 3.60 ERA) pitched a solid game, allowing three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in his 6.1 innings of work. Clippers left-hander T.J. House (0-1, 7.20 ERA), did not fare as well.

He spent all of 2012 in the Blue Jays farm system, but was put on waivers this past offseason and the Indians picked him up. The IBI's Ethan Day recently sat down to talk to him and gives the details how his adjustment is going with his new organization.

Mud Hens blank Clippers, 3-0
The Clippers managed only five hits on Sunday, as they were shutout 3-0 by Toledo Mud Hens starting pitcher Casey Crosby. The slumping Clippers have scored just 10 runs in the past six games, and are 1-5 in that span. Giovanni Soto, making his first start since August 7 of last year with Double-A Akron, didn’t last long.
