2013 Spring Training Games 3 & 4: Tribe wins two!

On Friday and Saturday, the Tribe relied on its offense, but it was Tribe pitchers who led the charge in Sunday's contests. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps both contests and touches on the Indians perfect 4-0 start.

2013 Spring Training Game #2: Indians 13, Reds 10
The Indians continued their offensive onslaught on their Ohio and Goodyear partnership by piling 13 more runs onto the Reds. It was the second consecutive game in which they scored 10-plus runs, and at the center of that was Ryan Raburn, who blasted another two home runs in his quest to make the Indians 25-man roster. Join Jake Dungan as he wraps up game #2 of spring training.

Sizing up the competition in the AL Central
The Cleveland Indians made a handful of moves this offseason, but by no means does that make the Tribe the favorite in the AL Central. The Detroit Tigers are coming off a World Series appearance, and both the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox could be contenders in the division. So, how does the Tribe stack up when compared to the competition? Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he ponders how the Tribe compares to its divisional rivals.

It's time for fans to keep their part of bargain
Last week's signing of Michael Bourn was the latest move in an especially busy offseason for the Cleveland Indians. With the signing of Bourn, the Tribe has now committed $117 million to free agents this offseason. The team's ownership has finally gone out and made a big commitment in spending this offseason, and the IBI's Jake Dungan believes it's now time for Indians fans to keep their part of the bargain and start attending games.

The Bourn Identity - Going the extra mile
The Indians shocked the local and national baseball world last night when news came down the pipe that they had reached agreement on a four-year $48 million deal with free agent Michael Bourn. For days and weeks the Indians gave no indication they were in on him and that their payroll was maxed out, and they made a key strike at the start of spring training which improves the club in a lot of ways. The IBI's Jake Dungan recaps the signing and provides some thoughts on what the deal means.

What's new in 2013: The bullpen
Well now we get to the fun stuff. That’s right, today we will discuss the “The Bullpen Mafia” as Clevelanders have so affectionately branded the Indians relief corps. Outside of maybe Brian Wilson and Sergio Romo in San Francisco, the Tribe probably has the most unique, fun-loving bunch of characters to ever occupy a major league bullpen. The IBI's Jake Dungan continues his four-part series with a comparison between the 2012 opening day bullpen and this season's projected opening day bullpen.

What's new in 2013: The starting rotation
Today we continue on with part two of this four part series which compares the projected opening day lineup, starting rotation, bullpen, and bench for this coming season with its 2012 counterpart. In today's piece the focus is on the starting rotation where there are some new faces in the mix not just as trade (Bauer) and free agent pickups (Myers, Kazmir) this offseason, but new options that were not as seriously considered this time last year (McAllister, Kluber) or were not available (Carrasco). Jake Dungan breaks it all down after the jump.

What's new in 2013: The starting lineup
The Indians have been busy this offseason making some significant changes to the lineup and pitching staff. But exactly how much have they improved? IBI newcomer Jake Dungan takes a look at the 2013 lineup and compares it to its 2012 counterpart in the first of a four part series that will break down and compare the 2012 and 2013 versions of the lineup, bench, starting rotation and bullpen.

Tribe Fest triumphs in inaugural year
Large crowds descended upon Progressive Field this past week for the inaugural Tribe Fest, and it turned out to be a rousing success.
