Another long six-month grind has come to an end as the 2014 season of Cleveland Indians baseball is now officially in the books. They ended on a high note with a 7-2 victory over Tampa Bay to finish the year with a respectable 85-77 record. Unfortunately, Terry Francona's bunch fell just shy of a postseason berth this year. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he wraps up the season.

Despite the Indians' playoff hopes currently running on fumes, they are fortunate to have a horse in both the Cy Young and MVP races in Corey Kluber and Michael Brantley, who each have put together historical seasons by franchise standards. The question now is will they each have a legitimate shot at winning? The IBI's Jake Dungan discusses.

The Indians at least guaranteed themselves a second straight non-losing season on Sunday with their 81st victory of the campaign. Corey Kluber was as good as he's been all season fanning 14 Twins batters over eight innings of work. While he bolstered his Cy Young case, the Indians offense exploded again scoring seven runs for the second day in a row. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the win.

Danny Salazar extended the brilliant stretch of pitching by the Tribe starting rotation with seven and a third one-run innings, but did not earn a decision as the Indians would not rally until the ninth inning to tie the game at one and wouldn't pull ahead until the 13th frame on a Mike Aviles sacrifice fly. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he discusses the extra-innings win as well as the resurrected playoff hopes.

Once again, the Tribe had a lead in the latter portion of the game, but a clearly tired bullpen was unable to hold the potent Tiger lineup in check as J.D. Martinez and Ian Kinsler inflicted most of the damage in the season series finale between Cleveland and Detroit. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the game and whether the team's playoff hopes are still alive.

As America took time to reflect on the events of 13 years ago, the Indians and Twins played, fittingly, a twin-bill at Progressive Field and it was the Tribe who came out on top in both matchups thanks to strong pitching and enough offense to dispense of the Twins and give Cleveland a series win ahead of a key matchup against the Tigers. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps both games.

Carlos Carrasco followed up Corey Kluber's complete game victory on Saturday with nearly one of his own as he came one out shy of a shutout on Sunday while allowing only four hits and striking out eight. Scott Carroll, once again, handcuffed Cleveland's bats. However, the two runs they did manage to push across were enough. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the win.

Nick Maronde became the latest player to trade his halo for a block "C" or vice-versa this season as the Indians and Angels have now had multiple personnel change squads this year, including Joe Smith, Vinnie Pestano and, most recently, J.B. Schuck. After appearing in two College World Series and playing with some of the game's best in LA, the left-hander is ready for the next chapter in his career, as the IBI's Jake Dungan writes.

Detroit's hitters didn't bother to take much time to congratulate new father Josh Tomlin on Thursday night as they tagged him for five runs in a seven-run 11th inning, which allowed the Tigers to clinch the series win with an 11-4 victory. Trevor Bauer's first-inning struggles also continued as he allowed four runs to start the game before settling in. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the loss.

Carlos Carrasco's brilliant stretch of pitching since returning to the starting rotation continued on Thursday as he held Chicago to just one run over six and two thirds innings. Jason Kipnis extended his dominant play in his hometown as the Windy City while Michael Bourn claimed the league lead in triples with nine. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the Indians' 3-2 victory in Chicago.

It was a beautiful day at Progressive Field as the Columbus Clippers....I mean the Cleveland Indians....defeated the Astros 3-1. The kids made their presence known once again as Bauer tossed a shutout over six innings while Jose Ramirez notched three hits and an RBI and Roberto Perez and Tyler Holt made key plays on defense. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the win.

Thursday was another reminder that nothing is automatic in baseball and even the best in the game have their off-days. Corey Kluber still gave the Indians a quality outing allowing only three runs in seven innings of work, but by his standards, he was below par for the course against the Twins as the Tribe failed to complete the three-game sweep. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the game.

Danny Salazar was actually solid in his return to the rotation from AAA pitching five shutout innings before allowing a pair of baserunners in the sixth, who later scored against Scott Atchison. The unfortunate reality of Sunday's loss was the Indians offense was limited to just one run on two hits, all recorded in the fourth inning. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the loss.

The Indians have had a very good track record in finding under-the-radar talent and developing it into productive assets for their team. Could Duke von Schamann be the next in that line of talent? Join the IBI's Jake Dungan for an in-depth analysis and conversation with the Akron RubberDucks right-hander as he discusses his experience with the Tribe so far, his success this season and the influence of his father.

Newcomer Zach Walters made his presence known in Cleveland with a walk-off home run on Wednesday while Tyler Holt has already been turning some heads on the national level with his sensational defense in the outfield in just his first couple starts in the majors. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he takes a look at what the Tribe's rookies have done so far this season.

The pendulum appears to be swinging the other way once again as they manage to finish their road trip strong with a series win in New York courtesy of Corey Kluber and, surprisingly, Carlos Carrasco, who both kept the Yankees bats in check over the final two games of the series. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the victory.

One would think we would know how this song and dance goes by now with the Indians here in 2014. Almost like clockwork, as soon as this team looks to be getting their act together to go on a hot streak, they fall right back to square one and need to build themselves up all over again. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the Indians third straight loss as the Ohio Cup leaves Cleveland.

Is it because of the calming influence of Terry Francona and the other leaders in the clubhouse? Is it because the race for the final AL wild card spot is full of flawed teams? Or is it just a complete luck of the draw? Somehow, this ball club, with all its imperfections, now has only three games sitting between them and a playoff berth. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he discusses the highlights of Sunday's walk-off win.

After struggling at the outset of the 2014 campaign, Akron RubberDucks outfielder Jordan Smith has really turned things around in the second half, which included hitting for the cycle last weekend against Reading. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he talks in-depth with Smith as well as manager Dave Wallace about the outfielder's recent success and what he needs to do to maintain it.

With the fate of their season continuing to hang precariously in the balance, the Tribe entered the eighth inning of Thursday's rubber match against the Mariners with a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, the battle was won by Mike Zunino as he lined a 2-0 cutter from Bryan Shaw over the left field wall for a two-run homer as Seattle emerged victorious taking two out of three in the series. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the loss.
