Swinging for the Fences: It's now or never for Carlos Carrasco
Here we are heading into the fifth year since the dreaded Cliff Lee trade. But before we say happy anniversary, let's look at this trade and see how it has panned out. The Indians got Lou Marson, Jason Donald and Jason Knapp, who have since moved on due to injury, inconsistency or other reasons. That leaves the centerpiece of the deal, Carlos Carrasco. Can he finally reach his full potential? The IBI's Jake Dungan analyzes.

It's been a winter of changes in the AL Central thus far as all five teams have made moves in hopes of making the division race more competitive next season. The IBI's Jake Dungan makes an early prediction the the AL Central could be a three-team race between the Tigers, Indians and Royals. Swinging for the Fences: New Year's resolutions
It's a new year, a time when goals and resolutions are made. And while some are planning a new exercise and weight-loss regimen or aiming to get that big promotion at work, Terry Francona and his crew at Progressive Field are setting their sights higher as they hope to push their way to the next level as a ball-club coming off a year where they got a brief taste of postseason play. The IBI's Jake Dungan lists goals for the Tribe in 2014. Quintessential

Swinging for the Fences: The value of minor league signings
So far this offseason, while the rest of baseball has been consumed with 10-year contracts, posting fees and blockbuster trades, the Indians have been hard at work finding value on the market without breaking the bank. Chris Antonetti has thus far done an adequate job at combing the available arms for starting pitching and bullpen help. Have they been blockbuster moves? No, but the IBI's Jake Dungan says not to be quick to overlook the minor league signings.

Swinging for the Fences: From the gutter to the grail
"From the gutter to the grail. we rise up to win it..." Those lyrical words of encouragement penned by newly-arrived pitching prospect Trevor Bauer provided some inspiration for the new-look Tribe early in the year. But while Bauer's contributions to the hip-hop community may have been productive last season, the same cannot be said for his pitching, unfortunately. Can he still live up to the hype? The IBI's Jake Dungan speculates in this week's Swinging for the Fences.

Swinging for the Fences: Two Tribe hurlers ready to make good
By now, fans are familiar with the nicknames "Little Cowboy" and "The Herrmannator" as their recipients have been in Cleveland for a while now. But despite their tenure, starting pitcher Josh Tomlin and right-handed reliever Frank Herrmann have not yet had their 'golden opportunity' to prove themselves as their time with the actual big league club has been sporadic. However, they may finally get that chance in 2014. The IBI's Jake Dungan explains in his weekly column.

Swinging for the Fences: David Murphy and lineup balance
One of the greatest Christmas gifts many Tribe fans ever received was a baseball team to be excited about back during the winter of 2012-2013 where Terry Francona took the reins of the ballclub and took them to the next level as a playoff contender. This offseason, the Tribe made their first big free-agent signing in the form of veteran outfielder David Murphy. It may not a particularly exciting move, but the IBI's Jake Dungan explains why adding him could be essential to the team as far as lineup balance.

Around The Farm: November 23, 2013

Ryan Battaglia hit a double and reached base three times over in Australia making it eight of his last ten games where he's recorded a hit. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan for all the highlights as he takes a trip around the farm.

Swinging for the Fences: Looking at the lefties
Many Cleveland faithful would prefer to forget the name Rich Hill sooner rather than later. However, as tough as he was to watch on the mound at times this season, he was only a symptom of an ongoing issue for the Indians in 2013. After the departures of left-handed relief mainstays Tony Sipp and Rafael Perez, the process of bringing in and testing new southpaw recruits proved to be more difficult than the team probably had envisioned. The IBI's Jake Dungan looks at the lefty options for the Tribe in 2014

Swinging for the Fences: Is Justin Masterson an ace?
The question many have asked the past couple seasons has been is Justin Masterson an ace? After his breakout season in 2011, the Indians thought he could be, but 2012 saw him regress significantly. Now after the 2013 season, Masterson has reestablished his effectiveness as a top-of-the-rotation starter, but is he a legitimate ace? The IBI's Jake Dungan speculates in this week's Swinging for the Fences
