Second Thoughts: Game #66 - Reds 9, Indians 10
The Battle of Ohio moved to Progressive Field last night. After the Reds thumped the Indians for a three game sweep last week, the Indians got things started off on the right foot with a 10-9 win last night in an offensive slugfest. Adam McGavin provides his "second thoughts" on a crucial win and all of the positives that came from the game for the Indians offensively.

Roster restoration
The Indians recently picked up a reliever off waivers from the Rockies who had an 8.06 ERA in 23 games and currently have 13 pitchers on the roster. They called up and then sent down Matt LaPorta after just 11 at bats. Lonnie Chisennall is struggling at third base and the outfield trio of Duncan, Damon and Cunningham have performed poorly all season. Adam McGavin chimes in with some thoughts on fixing the roster...

Smaller successes, yielding larger results
The Indians are having a lot of success this season even without a big payroll or big numbers from their lineup. Adam McGavin says the Indians have the look of a National League team where they do a lot of the little things well by getting on base, running the bases well, playing good defense, getting good quality starts, and having a very good bullpen.

Right on or way off: Is LaPorta up for good?
Adam McGavin chimes in with his popular Right on, Way off column where he takes a look at both sides of the issue with three questions pertaining to the Cleveland Indians. This week he gives his verdict on if LaPorta should stay in Cleveland, the Indians should or should not be sellers at the trade deadline, and if Ubaldo Jimenez should be removed from the starting rotation.

Lopez’s Renaissance: A Rise to Relevance
With injuries to Jack Hannahan and Travis Hafner along with a need for a right-handed bat, infielder Jose Lopez has stepped up and been a solid contributor for the Indians this season. In his latest, Adam McGavin talks about Lopez's renaissance this season and how much he can help the Indians this year.

Second Thoughts: Game #48 - Royals 5, Indians 8
The Indians returned home yesterday after a beat down in Chi-Town which saw them get pound for 35 runs in three games and swept. Thanks to the friendly confines of Progressive Field and Kansas City Royals, the Indians were able to get back on track yesterday with a much needed 8-5 win. Adam McGavin has his "second thoughts" on the game.

Identity ambiguity for Tribe starters?
Aside from a few starts, Justin Masterson and Ubaldo Jimenez have been anything but aces for the Cleveland Indians. With Derek Lowe, Jeanmar Gomez, Josh Tomlin and Zach McAllister carrying much of the load during the first quarter of the season, Adam McGavin takes a look at the identity forming, or lack thereoff, of the Indians' starting rotation.

Right on or way off: Will the Indians be in first after June?
The Indians will be in first place at the end of June. Matt LaPorta should be on the 25-man roster. Choo should stay in the leadoff spot all year. Johnny Damon will stay with the Indians all season. Those are four hot talking points fans have discussed about the Indians of late, and Adam McGavin chimes in with why each of those statements are "right on" or "way off" in his latest.

Perez pouts, rips Tribe fans
"I'm tired of getting booed at home, so I figured I'd throw some strikes today...you can quote me on that." Don't worry Chris, we certainly will. Chris Perez, proved once again, that athletes just don't get it sometimes. Here is IPI's very own Adam McGavin, with a few quotes of his own, from the fans Chris, from the fans...

Second Thoughts: Game #35 - Indians 5, Twins 4
The Indians blew a 4-1 lead in the 8th inning as Nick Hagadone served up a 2-run homer which tied the game, but the Indians came back in the top of the 9th and scored a run on a Choo RBI single and then Chris Perez slammed the door in the bottom of the inning for his 12th save. Adam McGavin gives his "second thoughts" on another hard fought Indians win and another good start by Jeanmar Gomez.

The Indians played a day-night doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox on Monday, and after dodging raindrops all day they were able to pull out wins in both games winning game one 8-6 and game two 3-2. Adam McGavin provides his "second thoughts" on the Indians big doubleheader sweep.

Right on, or way off: Can the offense keep getting on base?
We are about five weeks into the season, so it is time to start evaluating the Indians' roster and their performance to date to see if things can remain consistent, will get worse, or will get better. Adam McGavin takes a look at four questions in the early going: Can they keep up their high ranking on-base percentage, should Damon lead off, will Lowe continue to lead the staff, and when does Pestano become the closer?

All Smiles in the 'Land
Even with all of the struggles offensively, the Indians find themselves in first place at the start of May. There is still a long way to go, but Adam McGavin says the feelings should be positive with how the pitching staff as a whole is performing. The pitching will have to continue to carry the Indians this season until the offense gets it in gear, gets a little more healthy, and potentially the Indians can add a piece or two around the trade deadline.

Placing the Replacements
They may not attract the type of media buzz that other higher-profile players garner, but the trio of Jason Donald, Jose Lopez and Aaron Cunningham are the exact type of role players that Cleveland fans admire as the blue collar members of the team. With a left-handed dominant starting lineup these players will be more important as the season moves along, and Adam talks about the trio in his latest.

The Johnny Damon Dilemma
Adam McGavin makes his debut on the IPI and in his first piece gives his thoughts on the Indians' signing of Johnny Damon. Adam discusses the dynamics of the signing and how the Indians are going to fit him into the lineup and give him the required at bats he needs, and why he can help the Indians' lineup.
