Starting pitching rundown
A lot of the focus on improving the Indians current roster has focused on offensive upgrades, specifically regarding left field and the corner infield positions. However, the Tribe’s starting rotation is as much or more of a concern, and that concern has more than shown itself during the Indians current road trip through Minnesota and Kansas City. Adam McGavin runs through the starting pitching performances to date and looks at what options - if any - the Indians have to fill the holes internally.

Second Thoughts: Game #99 - Tigers 3, Indians 5
Wow, what a game and what a series. The Indians and Tigers finished off a crucial three-game series between AL Central contenders in what was a playoff atmosphere at Progressive Field. The Indians stunned the Tigers and their ace Justin Verlander with a four-run 7th to come back and win 5-3, and Adam McGavin shares his second thoughts on the big series win for the Tribe.

Second Thoughts-Game #96-Indians 3, Orioles 1
At the start of play on Monday, the Indians were 4 ½ games behind the idle division-leading Detroit Tigers. Reeling from losses in seven of their last nine, the Indians were desperate for an ace-like performance from Justin Masterson to avoid a four-game sweep at home against the Orioles. Luckily, he came through and the Tribe found a way to win a crucial game.

Second Thoughts: Game #89 - Indians 3, Rays 2
The Indians won a close one last night over the Rays, 3-2. The game was a lot closer than it should of been as the Indians blew several opportunities to add to an early 3-0 lead and put the game well out of reach, and then they held on for dear life late to get the win. With two tough Rays' lefties looming in the next three games last night was an important win to get, and Adam McGavin gives his "second thoughts" on the game...

Have a heart for Hagadone
Indians left-handed reliever Nick Hagadone suffered a self inflicted hand injury last Friday, and may be lost for the season. The Indians were not happy about it as they placed him on the minor league disqualified list which keeps him from getting paid, and now the Players Union may step in and file a grievance. With everything that is going on, Adam McGavin chimes in and says that while Hagadone has opened himself up to being labeled a hothead, trying hard is easier to forgive.

Ten pitchers the Indians may target at the trade deadline
With all of the trade speculation swirling in Tribe nation about the best right-handed hitting options on the trade market, few have given much thought to targeting a starter or reliever. However, there is a better chance of the Indians landing a middle-reliever or middle of the rotation starter in a savvy, understated trade, than fleecing an unsuspecting seller who has a power-hitting righty for sale.

Second Thoughts: Game #79 - Angels 3, Indians 0
After scoring 32 runs against the Orioles in a four game set over the weekend, the Indians returned home to Progressive Field on Monday night in the hopes of continuing their good play from over the weekend. But even with another good outing from Ubaldo Jimenez, it was not enough as Jerad Weaver shut the offense down and the Indians lost 3-0. Adam McGavin shares his "second thoughts" and more on the game.

Second Thoughts: Game #73 - Indians 4, Yankees 6
The Indians had another rough one last night losing to the Yankees by a score of 6-4. The game was never really much of a contest as the Yankees had every break go their way and they executed in just about every scoring opportunity, and the Indians offense continues to struggle. Adam McGavin shares his "second thoughts" on another disappointing game in the Bronx...

Second Thoughts: Game #72 - Indians 1, Yankees 7
The deathly duo of a slumping offense and a struggling starting pitching staff showed for the third straight game on Monday night as the Indians were beat handily by the Yankees 7-1. In their last three games the Indians have now been outscored 22-3 and have lost three straight. Adam McGavin provides his "second thoughts" on last night's Rumble in the Bronx...

Right on or way off: Is Masterson the Ace?
Has Justin Masterson finally emerged as the Cleveland Indians ace, or are his recent starts just a facade? Is it time to remove Carlos Santana from the clean-up spot, or is their still time for the Indians' slugger to heat up this summer? Is it time to make a change to the bottom of the rotation, or will Jeanmar Gomez figure things out? Join Adam, and find out if these statements are right on, or way off...

Second Thoughts: Game #66 - Reds 9, Indians 10
The Battle of Ohio moved to Progressive Field last night. After the Reds thumped the Indians for a three game sweep last week, the Indians got things started off on the right foot with a 10-9 win last night in an offensive slugfest. Adam McGavin provides his "second thoughts" on a crucial win and all of the positives that came from the game for the Indians offensively.

Roster restoration
The Indians recently picked up a reliever off waivers from the Rockies who had an 8.06 ERA in 23 games and currently have 13 pitchers on the roster. They called up and then sent down Matt LaPorta after just 11 at bats. Lonnie Chisennall is struggling at third base and the outfield trio of Duncan, Damon and Cunningham have performed poorly all season. Adam McGavin chimes in with some thoughts on fixing the roster...

Smaller successes, yielding larger results
The Indians are having a lot of success this season even without a big payroll or big numbers from their lineup. Adam McGavin says the Indians have the look of a National League team where they do a lot of the little things well by getting on base, running the bases well, playing good defense, getting good quality starts, and having a very good bullpen.

Right on or way off: Is LaPorta up for good?
Adam McGavin chimes in with his popular Right on, Way off column where he takes a look at both sides of the issue with three questions pertaining to the Cleveland Indians. This week he gives his verdict on if LaPorta should stay in Cleveland, the Indians should or should not be sellers at the trade deadline, and if Ubaldo Jimenez should be removed from the starting rotation.
