Paulino goes deep in 10-2 loss
For the second time in as many nights, the Scrappers were drubbed by eight runs. After getting licked in their home finale by the Auburn Doubledays, they were dropped in the first game of their final road trip, falling 10-2 to the Jamestown Jammers.

Scrappers end home slate with a whimper, losing 11-3
It wasn’t that long ago that Luis Dejesus was throwing out the first pitch to christen the 2012 Scrappers home slate. Now, exactly 72 days later, it was Robbie Aviles throwing out the first pitch to end it. While 2012 hasn’t exactly been the championship year the fans might have hoped, it supplied plenty to smile about.

Balks, walks and errors, oh my! Scrappers blow late lead
The Scrappers were eliminated from playoff contention long ago, but the last few nights it has felt like they were in a pennant race. Maybe that’s because their foe, the Auburn Doubledays, are neck deep in a race of their own. And for the Scrappers, that can only mean one thing: spoiler.

Mudcats drop home finale 3-0
ZEBULON- The Carolina Mudcats (31-35) fell to the Potomac Nationals (30-35) 3-0 in the Mudcats' home finale. A three run third by the Nationals would end up being the only scoring that the game would see as both sides pitched well throughout the game.

Second Thoughts: Game #131 - A's 12, Indians 7
Can it get any worse than this? On a day when the Indians finally seemed to discover their offensive stroke, Justin Masterson struggled mightily and the team dropped its 14th game in 15 tries. For the month of August, the Tribe has now gone 5-23. It certainly looks bleak, and Jason Ruggiero provides more detail on this as he shares his thoughts on yesterday's game.

Aeros Put Brakes on Celebration as Loss at Altoona Leaves Magic Number at One
The Akron Aeros were poised for a division-clinching celebration Thursday night. All they needed was either a win over the Altoona Curve or a Bowie loss to Erie. Unfortunately, at quitting time, neither scenario materialized.

Sever’s clutch stroke sends Scrappers soaring to victory
For Joe Sever, it was about more than just getting a big hit in the eighth inning with his team down a run. It was about pride. Just one batter earlier, the Scrappers best hitter Joey Wendle was intentionally walked with first base open to load the bases for Sever. That made it personal.

Cooper Rides High in Mudcats Victory, 3-1
Jordan Cooper finished his 2012 season a high note as he tossed seven dominant innings in a 3-1 win for the Carolina Mudcats over the Potomac Nationals on Thursday night at Five County Stadium. Cooper (9-7) won his third straight start by holding the Nationals to one unearned run while scattering four hits. He struck out seven and walked one batter.

Second Thoughts: Game #130 A's 8, Indians 4
Ugh oh. The Tribe is on another losing streak as they lost their fourth game in a row to the Athletics last night 8-4. That is now 13 of 14 games they have lost and an astounding 26 of 31 games. These are the kind of late season meltdowns that get people fired. Nonetheless, Adam McGavin watched the game last night and shares his thoughts on what transpired and more.

Clippers stay alive in playoff chase with 4-2 win
The Columbus Clippers aren't conceding anything when it comes to the playoffs. The Clippers remained alive in the IL wild-card race with a 4-2 victory Wednesday over the Bats at Louisville Slugger Field, using a pair of unlikely sources to spur the offense and a pitcher-by-committee approach to winning effect.
