Clippers drop home series finale, 6-2
Playing at an unusually early time amidst bleak and dreary weather, the Columbus Clippers got off to a slow start Tuesday morning against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and didn’t get much better as the game went on. Columbus (21-24) fell to the Yankees, 6-2, in the finale of a four-game set between the two clubs. In defeat, the Clippers lose the series, 3-1, and are yet to win a series this month.

Sailing with the Clippers: 5/14/2012 - 5/20/2012

Chiefs beat the Clippers, 6-1
One bad inning went a long way in determining the fate of the Columbus Clippers Thursday night. Columbus (19-21) fell to the Syracuse Chiefs, 6-1, for the second time in three games in front of 8,115 fans at Huntington Park. Syracuse scored five of its six runs in the top of the second inning.

Clippers power their way to 6-2 win
Mike Sarbaugh was angry in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday night, to the point where he ended up getting ejected from the game between his Clippers and the Syracuse Chiefs. Sarbaugh had a reason to be happy after the game, though, as Columbus (19-20) won for just the second time in nine games, defeating Syracuse, 6-2, in front of 7,803 fans at Huntington Park.

The Clippers return home, but lose 5-1
The Clippers 10-game road trip ended Monday afternoon, but the losing that defined Columbus’ performance in opposing team’s ballparks over the past week and a half did not. Columbus returned home to Huntington Park Tuesday night, and for the seventh time in eight games, the Clippers were defeated, falling to the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-1.

LaPorta's homer powers Clippers to 5-3 win
The Columbus Clippers got back in the win column with a win over the Pawtucket Red Sox Monday afternoon in the series finale between the two teams. Columbus (18-19) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-3 win against Pawtucket. The Clippers had lost the first three games of the four-game set after losing three-straight games to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Clippers drop game one to Pawtucket, 5-1
Clutch hitting wasn’t a strong point for the Columbus Clippers Friday night in Pawtucket, and the team paid for it. The Clippers (17-17) lost to the Red Sox (23-13), 5-1, dropping the first contest in a four-game set in Rhode Island. Columbus had seven hits in the game, but went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.

Clippers fall in extras, 4-3
It took extra innings, but the Columbus Clippers fell to the Scranton/Wilks-Barre Yankees Thursday afternoon, 4-3. The Clippers (17-16) dropped the finale of a four-game set with the Yankees (17-16), and with the loss, Scranton/WB took the series, 3-1. Columbus’ lone win came on Tuesday, 1-0, before the club dropped three-consecutive games for just the third time this season.

Lopez leads Clippers to big victory
Playing in a Columbus uniform for the first time this season, Clippers’ third baseman Jose Lopez led his new team to a win Sunday.
Lopez went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs in his debut, as the Clippers (16-13) beat the first-place Toledo Mud Hens (18-11), 8-1, to get within two games of the IL West division leader.

Columbus pounds out 12-8 win
Timely hitting and a few errant throws propelled the Columbus Clippers to their second win in a row Thursday night. The Clippers (15-12) topped the Gwinnett Braves, 12-8, in front of 7,708 fans at Huntington Park. Gwinnett made four errors—three of which were throwing—and Columbus went 8-for-13 with runners in scoring position on way to victory.

Columbus splits a pair on Wednesday
COLUMBUS - An unusual night of baseball at Huntington Park in Columbus Wednesday resulted in the Clippers and Gwinnett Braves splitting two games.
Columbus (14-12) beat the Braves, 3-2, in a seven-inning contest after the two clubs finished a game that was postponed due to rain on Tuesday. Gwinnett won the early game, which started in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday, 7-4.

There were some hot performances by Matt LaPorta, Russ Canzler, and even Cody Allen, and also some not so hot performance from Trevor Crowe and others.

Clippers use late-inning rally to beat Pawtucket
Solid pitching and late-inning hitting propelled the Columbus Clippers to their third win in a row Sunday afternoon. The Clippers (13-10), rallied from a 2-0 deficit through five innings to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox (15-9), 3-2, in front of 7,463 fans at Huntington Park. Errors by the Columbus defense gave Pawtucket an early lead, but a mistake by the Red Sox defense in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Clippers the game-winning run.

Columbus wins with eighth-inning rally
COLUMBUS—In a game that pitted one of the International League’s best offenses against one of Triple-A’s top pitchers, the former prevailed. Barely.The Columbus Clippers (12-10) rallied to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox (15-8), 6-4, on Saturday in front of 6,191 fans on a chilly night at Huntington Park.
