The Great Lakes Loons held the Lake County Captains to six hits, all singles in the series opener on Saturday night. Lake County left 11 runners on base throughout the game. Lake County is still tied with Fort Wayne for the first wild-card position.

The Lake County Captains (33-26, 64-64) and South Bend Silver Hawks (30-29, 65-64) managed a split of Thursday’s twinbill at Classic Park. Lake County escaped with an 8-5 win in the first game. South Bend took the nightcap with a 9-3 win.

Low-A Lake County catcher Alex Lavisky has not performed up to expectations so far in his second full season as a professional, but he has the aptitude, the tools, and the drive to get better. There are few players in the system with more class and with as great a makeup as him, and he continues to work hard every day to get things right in the hope things eventually click and come together.

EASTLAKE, OH- The Lake County Captains withstood a late inning rally by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and walked off in the 15th inning Friday night with a 7-6 win. The game was a long one as it lasted a total of 4:22.
