With that nagging injury now in the past, with his blazing fastball and promising secondary offerings, he looks poised to take off with his performance. Jake Lowery led the Lake County Captains over the South Bend Silver Hawks as he hit his sixth home run of the season to carry the Captains to a 10-6 victory on Sunday. Elvis Araujo (6-9, 5.21) received the win for the Captains as he countered South Bend’s 6’8” lefty Andrew Barbosa (2-3, 3.89).

Low-A Lake County catcher Jake Lowery's season to date has not gone as he hoped it would at the outset. After starting the season at High-A Carolina, he ran into some struggles and was reassigned to Lake County in July. With just a few weeks left in the season he wants to finish strong and give himself something to build on for next year. Stephanie Metzger recently sat down with him to discuss how things are going.

The Lake County Captains picked up a 5-2 victory in the first of a three-game series against the Great Lakes Loons to provide reliever Cody Penny with a win in his Captains debut. All-Star Cody Anderson (6-7, 5.92) received the start for the Captains against Great Lakes’ right-hander Gustavo Gomez (4-6, 3.29).

The Lake County Captains strung together sixteen hits on Wednesday to post a 7-2 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps and extend a five-game winning streak. Left-hander Elvis Araujo took the mound for the Captains against West Michigan righty Marcelo Carreno. Araujo had a tough month of July as he posted a 2-3 record and 6.95 ERA, and he struggled on Wednesday as he had trouble finding the plate.

The rise to the big leagues is a tough, tumultuous trail at times, but Cleveland Indians’ relief pitcher Cody Allen was fortunate enough to fast-forward the process. Cody Allen started the 2012 season at High-A Carolina then breezed through Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus before getting his first ever big league call on July 20th. Danny Jimenez was an all-star in short season Mahoning Valley in 2011. In 2012, he started the year on the DL after breaking his finger in the first game in spring training. He's back, feeling good, and hoping to return to the form that he showcased last season.

This season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for him, but Stephanie Metzger talked to him yesterday and he feels good and is just working to get better.

Low-A Lake County shortstop and unanimous #1 Indians prospect Francisco Lindor has had a very good first full professional season to date. He's lived up to all of the accolades bestowed upon him coming out the draft, and has impressed everyone from the fans to the Indians organization with his play this year. With two months left in the season, he wants to finish strong, continue to get better, and not let up.
