Lake County falls victim to Sunday doubleheader sweep to Great Lakes
The Lake County Captains fell victim to a Sunday sweep as they lost both games of a double-header against the Great Lakes Loons. Both games were shortened to seven innings apiece, and both games featured solid pitching match-ups.

Captains split doubleheader with Loons
MIDLAND – The Lake County Captains snagged the first game of a double-header against the Great Lakes Loons on Saturday afternoon, as the offense produced an 11-7 victory. Captains’ offense struggled in a 9-4 loss against the Loons in Game Two.

Captains crumble in 11th, fall to Dragons 7-3
The Lake County Captains crumbled to the Dayton Dragons in a 7-3 extra-inning affair Thursday night, as a South Carolina native with Ohio ties tallied 12 strikeouts. Joe Colon, a former Captain and Carolina Mudcat, joined the team as he received the start against Dayton right-hander Drew Cisco (1-0, 1.38). Cisco is the grandson of Galen Cisco, who pitched in the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox organizations, coached in the major leagues, and was part of the 1957 national champion Ohio State University football team.

Merritt shuts down Dragons, leads Captains to 7-3 win
The Lake County Captains won their second-straight game on Wednesday night as they took advantage of a handful of wild pitches and some timely hits to tame the Dayton Dragons for a 7-3 win. It was a southpaw showdown as lefty Ryan Merritt (0-2, 2.00) received the nod to start for the Captains against Dayton lefty Ismael Guillon (0-1, 4.91). Guillon is currently on the Cincinnati Reds’ 40-man roster and is ranked the 9th best Reds prospect by Baseball America.

The Lake County Captains let an early two-run lead slip away as they lost to the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. Right-hander Jake Sisco received the start for the Captains to face Fort Wayne righty Zach Eflin.

Captains break losing streak with 9-6 win
FORT WAYNE – The Lake County Captains overcame a six-game losing streak on Saturday with a 9-6 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Right-hander Mitch Brown (0-1, 15.43) made his second start of the season to counter Fort Wayne righty and Ohio native Justin Hancock (1-0, 3.86). Brown looked to rebound from an ugly first start in which he couldn’t escape the first inning.

Lake County offers Sisco a chance at a new beginning
The minor leagues are all about learning and development. New beginnings are a constant and for Cleveland Indians’ starter Jake Sisco, new beginnings are occurring both on and off the field. Sisco, 22, was the Indians’ third-round pick of the 2011 draft and is pitching in the starting rotation for Low-A Lake County, and according to the IBI's Stephanie Metzger has a chance to start over this season after a tough year last year.

It was a rough first week for the Lake County Captains as they kicked off the season with a 1-4 record, putting them in the basement of the Midwest League. The offense has yet to catch much fire and the pitching has allowed some early leads that the team has struggled to overcome. Captains drop finale and series to Lugnuts
The Lake County Captains dropped the finale of a four-game series on Sunday as the Lansing Lugnuts and one of the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospects put the brakes on the Captains’ bats. Right-hander Jake Sisco took the mound for his first start of the season to counter Lansing’s Roberto Osuno. Osuno, considered the top prospect on the current Lugnuts team, is an 18-year-old righty out of Mexico.

Captains top Lugnuts late, 5-4
The Lake County Captains kicked off the 2013 season with a 5-4 win over the Lansing Lugnuts, thanks to some timely offense and speed on the bases. Right-hander Luis DeJesus took the bump first for the Captains to counter Lansing’s Javier Avenado. Avenado is a big right-hander whom the Blue Jays organization picked from the minor league Rule 5 draft back in 2012.

The Cleveland Indians have already kicked off their season in Toronto, but the Lake County Captains are braving the cold at home in Eastlake. The Captains open up their season on Thursday night, and they’re preparing for the cold weather to come. Despite the unfavorable Cleveland chill, the team is warming up to the anticipated new season. Washington is focused on a comeback in 2013
Some people work to live, while others live to work. Cleveland Indians’ centerfielder LeVon Washington prefers the latter. After a disappointing 2012 campaign that was cut very short because of a hip injury, Washington is hard at work this offseason and has focused 100% of his effort on making a big comeback in 2013.

Offseason Spotlight '12: Jeremie Tice
Outfielder Jeremie Tice is getting used to his new position, recovering from another injury, and enjoying life with his newborn son. Injuries have plagued him throughout his career and he is just trying to overcome them the best he can and also be as consistent a player as he can. Aeros introduce new owner Ken Babby
Fresh off an Eastern League Championship, the Akron Aeros made more waves on Wednesday when they introduced new owner Ken Babby. The 32-year-old Babby is the owner of fast Forward Sports Group and will replace former team owners Mike and Greg Agganis.
