Elvis has entered the building...
Low-A Lake County left-handed pitcher Elvis Araujo jumped onto the prospect scene last season with a great year after missing the two previous seasons recovering from elbow surgery. This season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for him, but Stephanie Metzger talked to him yesterday and he feels good and is just working to get better.

Hardworking Lindor looks to finish the season strong
Low-A Lake County shortstop and unanimous #1 Indians prospect Francisco Lindor has had a very good first full professional season to date. He's lived up to all of the accolades bestowed upon him coming out the draft, and has impressed everyone from the fans to the Indians organization with his play this year. With two months left in the season, he wants to finish strong, continue to get better, and not let up.

Captains Sail To Easy 9-2 Victory Over Whitecaps
The Lake County Captains sailed to a 9-2 victory on a trio of home runs and a total of 18 hits against the West Michigan Whitecaps on Friday night. Left-hander Shawn Morimando (3-2, 3.90) started for the Captains, besting West Michigan’s Jeff Ferrell (2-3, 5.40).

Captains shine in the clutch, win 6-1
The Lake County Captains shined in situational hitting on Wednesday as a couple of two-out hits propelled them past the West Michigan Whitecaps in a 6-1 victory. All-Star Joe Colon (7-8, 3.01) took the bump for the Captains against West Michigan lefty Thomas Collier (6-6, 2.50).

Araujo, Captains win rain shortened game
The final game of the series between the Lake County Captains and Fort Wayne TinCaps was cut short due to rain for the second time in three days, giving Lake County the 2-1 win. Left-hander Elvis Araujo (2-6, 4.72) took the wheel for the Captains on the mound against Fort Wayne’s Ruben Mejia (1-2, 3.89).

Mistakes prove costly for Captains in 5-4 loss
A pair of base running blunders proved to be costly for the Lake County Captains as they fell to the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-4 on Monday. Right-hander Mason Radeke (5-1, 2.96) took the bump for the Captains for the first time against Fort Wayne’s Cody Hebner (6-3, 4.13). Radeke was formerly a starter in the Lake County bullpen this season, though he started last season for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, where he went 2-0 in nine games.

Captains washed out in shortened game, 4-0
The Lake County Captains were washed away by the Fort Wayne TinCaps 4-0 in a six-inning game cut short due to the rain on Sunday. Left-hander Shawn Morimando (2-1, 3.67) took the bump for the Captains after receiving a no decision in his last start in Dayton. From the other dugout, righty Matt Wisler (2-4, 2.74) started for the TinCaps after receiving a loss in his last decision.

Captains breeze past Dragons, 8-3
The Lake County Captains drained the Dayton Dragons 8-3 on Monday as the Captains’ bats compiled 14 hits and took advantage of a trio of Dayton errors. All-Star Cody Anderson (4-4, 2.99) started for the Captains against Dayton’s Tanner Robles (4-5, 4.56), though Anderson did not pitch deep into the game.

Henry taking things one day at a time
Double-A Akron outfielder Jordan Henry was recently activated from the disabled list after missing the first two months because he was rehabbing from surgery to his right knee. Now that he is back playing and is healthy again, he is looking to find consistency in his game and once again be a threat on the basepaths. Stephanie Metzger recently talked to him and gives us an update on how he is doing in his return.

Low-A Lake County right-handed pitcher Joe Colon is having another good season for the Indians. He was rewarded for his good season to date by being named to the Midwest League All Star team, a game which is being played tonight. Stephanie Metzger recently sat down with Colon and talked about his season and where it may go from here....

MacPhee stays hot, but Captains still lose 5-4
The Lake County Captains could not take advantage of 12 total hits or a late inning rally on Wednesday as they fell to the South Bend Silver Hawks 5-4. Right-hander Felix Sterling (3-5, 5.72) took the bump for the Captains against South Bend righty Tyler Green (1-3, 2.79). Green threw well in his last outing against the Captains while Sterling was coming off a rough appearance against Dayton.

Myles, Morimando help lead Captains to 9-6 win
The Lake County Captains snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night as they beat the South Bend Silver Hawks 9-6, thanks to a pair of home runs. Lake County sent left-hander Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.22) to the bump against South Bend’s Jesse Darrah (5-2, 3.77), a righty whom the Captains hit hard back in May.

Captains swept out of Lansing, 7-1
The Lansing Lugnuts sent the Lake County Captains packing after a three-game sweep as Lake County failed to overcome a rough start by Cody Anderson and a trio of errors in a 7-1 loss. Starting for the Captains was All-Star Cody Anderson (4-3, 2.91) against Lansing’s Justin Nicolino (2-0, 1.47). This time, though, Anderson struggled to keep the Lugnuts from stealing an early lead.

Johnson has settled into closer's role
Low-A Lake County right-handed reliever Jeff Johnson got off to a very slow start, but after a few tough outings he has been on quite a roll and has settled in as the closer for the team. A year removed from the draft and an injury scare, he is back pitching as good as he ever has. Stephanie Metzger talked to him this week and provides the details on his season to date.

Aeros declaw the Rock Cats, 6-2
The Akron Aeros conquered the New Britain Rock Cats 6-2 on Tuesday evening as the Aeros’ offense worked for 12 hits while their bullpen was nearly flawless. Starting for the Aeros was lefty Giovanni Soto (4-2, 4.07) who had received no-decisions in his last two starts.

Late inning rally caps Lake County victory
The Lake County Captains ignited a late-inning rally on Sunday to overcome the Fort Wayne TinCaps as Francisco Lindor fought his way through a recent slump and Elvis Araujo tossed another solid outing. Araujo (2-4, 3.19), who struggled in his last start against Lansing as he gave up five runs in three innings. On the bump for the TinCaps was righty Ruben Mejia (1-1, 4.74) who was making his second start of the season.

Captains get blanked 1-0
The Lake County Captains fell short in the first of a three-game series as Tommy Collier tossed a complete game 1-0 shutout for the West Michigan Whitecaps. Right-hander Joe Colon (5-4, 2.93) took the bump for the Captains against West Michigan righty Tommy Collier (2-4, 3.04). Colon was coming off a strong six-inning showing, during which he allowed just five hits and two runs at West Michigan.

The Erie SeaWolves washed over the Akron Aeros as T.J. McFarland struggled to keep the Erie line-up at bay on Friday. McFarland, who was coming off an impressive start against Richmond in which he allowed 12 hits, but only one run, was looking to earn his ninth win of the year.

Aeros grounded by Thunder, 3-2
The Trenton Thunder snapped the Akron Aeros’ four-game win streak with a 3-2 win at Waterfront Park on Tuesday. Right-hander Paulo Espino got the start for Akron against Trenton’s Vidal Nuno, who was making his debut with the Thunder. The Thunder struck first as centerfielder Abraham Almonte laced a lead-off single to center and advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Bellows remains red hot, Aeros win 5-1
The Akron Aeros downed the Trenton Thunder 5-1 on Monday thanks to the bat of Kyle Bellows and the formidable arms of the Aeros’ bullpen. Right-hander Brett Brach (1-1, 4.26) took the bump for Akron in his third start with the team against Trenton’s Brett Marshall (4-2, 2.98).
