The Lake County Captains took the first of a three-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods with a 7-2 win on Wednesday, due to another long ball from Alex Lavisky and another solid relief effort from Nick Pasquale. Right-handed All-Star Cody Anderson (4-7, 3.30) took the bump for the Captains to counter Bowling Green lefty Ryan Carpenter (11-7, 4.13).
The Lake County Captains dropped the final showing of a four-game series against the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday with a 6-5 loss, despite a three-run shot from Alex Lavisky. Left-hander Elvis Aruajo took the bump for the Captains to face Great Lakes’ right-hander Raydel Sanchez (3-8, 4.61).

When the Indians drafted Joe Sever, few knew that his uncle was none other than John Elway. Talk about being behind the eight-ball in Cleveland. That hasn't stopped Sever from starting his career off in grand fashion at Mahoning Valley, as he's hitting over .300, and recently finished second in the NY/Penn home run derby. The only question remaining is whether or not Sever can make it to Cleveland, and change Cleveland opinions on the Elway family.
Double-A Akron right-handed pitcher Trey Haley looks to have finally overcome a groin injury that had been bothering him for over a year thanks to a sports hernia surgery completed earlier this year. With that nagging injury now in the past, with his blazing fastball and promising secondary offerings, he looks poised to take off with his performance. Jake Lowery led the Lake County Captains over the South Bend Silver Hawks as he hit his sixth home run of the season to carry the Captains to a 10-6 victory on Sunday. Elvis Araujo (6-9, 5.21) received the win for the Captains as he countered South Bend’s 6’8” lefty Andrew Barbosa (2-3, 3.89).

After starting the season at High-A Carolina, he ran into some struggles and was reassigned to Lake County in July. The Lake County Captains are a team full of prospective minor league ballplayers. With the exception of Francisco Lindor, none may have as much talent as Luigi Rodriguez. Rodriguez possesses that multi-tool ability that everybody covets, and while he has a long road to the majors, his plus-plus speed just may get him there early.
