At this very moment last winter, Ryan Raburn was unemployed. Ending 2012 with a .171 batting average, he was cut from Detroit after playing just 66 games with the Tigers. One year later, he's revived his baseball career once again, this time some 170 miles south of Motown as a member of the Indians. IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz wonders if Raburn should play every day in 2014.

Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda once said," Managing is like holding a dove in your hand. Squeeze too hard and you kill it; not hard enough and it flies away." Terry Francona seems to have the perfect grasp when it comes to holding the Indians together. IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz discusses why Francona will once again prove to be valuable this offseason.

For a city that has endured countless pain and suffering when it comes to sports teams, Wednesday night at Progressive Field simply added more heartbreak. The Indians first trip to the postseason in six years ended before it really started, as the Tampa Bay Rays behind the arm of 25-year old right-hander Alex Cobb shutout the Tribe, 4-0 to win the one-game wild card playoff, ending Cleveland’s season.

There are moments in baseball that make you believe something special is happening, especially in a pennant chase. For the Indians, their most special player just may be a 42-year old with a .181 batting average. With the Tribe trailing 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, pinch hitter Jason Giambi took White Sox closer Addison Reed deep for a game-winning walk-off homer to give the Indians a remarkable 5-4 win.

Forget Tribe Town, how about Sweep City? It felt like it was October at the corner of Carneige and Ontario Saturday night. Putting up three runs in the first inning, the Indians made quick work of the Houston Astros for the 4-1 win. Scoring four runs on 16 hits in the first two games of the series, the Tribe scored four runs off Astros starter Paul Clemens through the first four innings. That was far from being the storyline of another Cleveland win though, as Indians starter Scott Kazmir continued his quest for the postseason with another brilliant performance.

It took 11 innings, but the Carson show was on live at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario Thursday night. With the bases loaded and the game knotted at one apiece in the eleventh, right fielder Matt Carson knocked in the game-winning run with a walk-off base hit, giving the Tribe the 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros.

Only the Indians caught themselves howling at the full moon above Kaufmann Stadium Wednesday night. A three run first inning and defensive miscues were too much for the Tribe to overcome, as they fell to the Royals in the rubber match, 7-2. The win gives Kansas City the series victory as they take two out of three against Cleveland for the second time over the last 10 days.

Even rain couldn’t cool off a surging Indians offense, as they completed the series sweep over their division rival White Sox Sunday afternoon, 7-1. After a rain delay of four hours and 23 minutes delayed the start time of the ballgame, it took the Tribe just two hours and 39 minutes to win their fourth straight over the last place Pale Hose. More importantly, the victory marks the first time since 2008 Cleveland has won 81 games in a season, as they continue to make their way toward October. The IBI's Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts...

Another game on Chicago’s Southside, and another win for your Cleveland Indians. After a scoreless tie between both club’s through three innings, the Tribe offense unleashed two homers for a five run fourth to give them the lead they would never surrender. Indians bats roughed up White Sox right-hander Andre Rienzo for five runs on seven hits in just four innings. Tribe starter Ubaldo Jimenez took a shutout in the ninth inning, and pulled away with his best start as a member of the Indians.

A crowd of 34,494 were on hand at Progressive Field to watch the Tribe battle the Kansas City Royals this past homestand. There’s just one problem. That was the total combined attendance for the entire three-game series. The IBI's Jim Berdysz takes a deep look into the attendance issue for the Indians and tries to tackle the reason behind why people continue to stay away even with the team in the thick of the playoff race.

Big game? Not a problem for Big Game James. Royals starter James Shields (11-9, 3.38 ERA) lived up to his nickname Wednesday afternoon, as he shutdown the Indians offense to two runs on just two hits defeating the Tribe, 6-2. In the rubber match with wild card hopes very much alive for both clubs, Kansas City sneaks out of town winning the final two games of the three-game series.

A three-run sixth inning by the Royals was too much to overcome for the Tribe, as they fell to Kansas City Tuesday night, 6-3.
