Justin Masterson entered the second half of 2012 with perhaps a chip on his shoulder. While much of his season has resembled his much heralded break-out season in 2011, he's had moments of struggle where his velocity was down, and his control was erratic. That wasn't the case on Friday Night, as Masterson dominated. Jim Berdysz shares his "Second Thoughts," after the jump.

Cleveland entered the game struggling against left-handed pitching, and facing one of the best young left-handed pitchers in the American League in Tampa Bay's Matt Moore. Cleveland unleashed a doubles barrage on Moore early and often, plating five runs in the second and third innings, then watched Ubaldo Jimenez lock down Tampa for the 7-3 victory. Jim Bierdysz rolls out his 'Second Thoughts' on the game-time action.

The Indians entered Friday Night's contest coming off a big opening series win and with their staff ace on the mound. The Tampa Bay Rays were struggling, and everything seemed pointed towards another victory. Of course, that's why they play the games. The Rays, given a big advantage by Masterson's lack of command, dominated the contest from the start. Check out Jim B's "Second Thoughts" on Friday Night's game action.

Lou Marson nearly hit for the cycle. Please read that again, and take it in slowly. Even with the potential Marson cycle, he wasn't the best offensive player on the roster yesterday. Marson, Shin-Soo Choo and Jose Lopez went a combined 13-for-16, and the Indians offense had an insane 19 hits in scoring 11 total runs. With the big win over the Orioles, the Indians inched to 2 1/2 games out of first place. Join Jim Berdysz with his second thoughts on the Tribe's offense onslaught...

The Indians have now lost six of seven games, and have falled 3 1/2 games behind the first place Chicago White Sox. With Lonnie Chisenhall heading to the DL, Michael Brantley hitting cleanup and Chris Antonetti talking about "improvement...from the interior," it may be time to start circling the wagons. Join Jim B. for some Second Thoughts on last night's ballgame.

After the Indians shutout Houston 2-0 on Friday night, the Astros returned the favor on Saturday afternoon as rookie left-handed starter Dallas Keuchel threw a complete game victory in just his second Major League start, defeating Cleveland 8-1. Tribe starter Jeanmar Gomez would take a perfect game into the fifth inning only to unravel and give up four runs in the frame, on his way to his third consecutive losing effort and seventh loss of the season.

The Indians got their 10-game road trip started off on the right foot on Friday night with a 2-0 win over the Astros. Ubaldo Jimenez continued his June brilliance and the offense did just enough to aide in the win. Jim Berdysz chimes in with his "second thoughts" on the win and the Indians fourth straight win...

It was nowhere close to the kind of game Indians manager Manny Acta and his players were envisioning on Saturday, as the Pirates tied the three game series with a an easy 9-2 victory. After gaining some momentum shutting out Pittsburgh on Friday, Cleveland never looked as though they ever had control in the ballgame as the Indians offense woes continue. The Indians are now just 12-15 over their last 27 games. Join Jim B. for his Second Thoughts on Saturday's game against the Pirates...

Justin Masterson is the staff ace, and his finally starting to look like it. Masterson dominated for seven, then gave the game to Vinnie Pestano and Chris Perez. Two words for the resurgent Pittsburgh Pirates: GAME OVER. Michael Brantley also continues his MLB high hit streak to 22 games. Join Jim Berdysz for his "Second Thoughts" on Friday Night's masterpiece.

The Indians offense was stymied by one Kyle Lohse, a right-handed starter formerly with the Minnesota Twins who never really had any luck with the Indians over the years. That all changed on Saturday night, as the Indians were shutout for the first time in 2012. Carlos Beltran, who was pursued by the Indians this offseason, had three hits, including his 17th homer, as the Cardinals won 2-0. Jim Berdysz gives his Second Thoughts about game 58, after the jump...

Josh Tomlin looked like an ace in leading the Cleveland Indians over former Tribe starter Jake Westbrook and the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. With Michael Brantley adding to his hit streak, and the middle of the line-up dominating, The Indians would coast to a 6-2 victory. Jim Berdysz gives his "Second Thoughts on the Indians victory."

The Indians dropped game two to the Twins on Saturday night by a score of 7-4. Right-hander Josh Tomlin struggled in yet another start, and left-hander Tony Sipp continues to have his problems pitching in relief. Also, Johnny Damon is temporarily leaving the team and Matt LaPorta is joining the team. Jim Berysz gives his "second thoughts" on the game.

The Indians lost five of six games against the White Sox and Twins in the past week, but thank goodness for the schedule gods as the Twins pulled into town on Friday for a weekend three-game set. The Indians took advantage of what may be the worst team in baseball by thumping them for a much needed 7-1 win last night. Jim Berdysz provides his second thoughts on the game.

The White Sox took the series in one of the craziest run-scoring games of the season. While the Indians offense never gave up, seven runs turned out to be less than half of what they needed, as the White Sox defeated the Indians, 14-7. Jim Berdysz returns to give his "Second Thoughts" on Saturday's ballgame.

With a sweep of the Detroit Tigers fresh in their rearviewmirrors, the Cleveland Indians headed to Chicago for their next "most important series of the season." The White Sox entered Friday Night's game 3 1/2 games behind the Indians, in second place, and playing good baseball. The Robin Ventura-led White Sox showcased that play in a 9-3 defeat of the Indians. Jim Berdysz brings his Saturday Morning "Second Thoughts" on last night's ballgame.

The Indians welcomed Ozzie Guillen and the Miami Marlins to Progressive Field. Much maligned Carlos Zambrano made the start for the Marlins, against a struggling Justin Masterson. Both pitched well, but walks and bad decisions would give the Marlins a 3-2 win. Jim Berdysz gives his "Second Thoughts" on Friday Night's loss.

Zach McAllister pitched well in his second start of 2012, but the Indians offense didn't give him any support. A fantastic start from Boston's Felix Doubront was enough to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead in the series heading into Sunday. Jim gives his Second Thoughts on Saturday's ballgame.

Ubaldo Jimenez returned to form last night, as the Indians couldn't rebound from the seven runs the Tribe "ace" gave up. A late-inning rally fell two-runs short, as the Boston Red Sox earned a split of the first two games of the series, heading into the weekend. Jim B. gives his Second Thoughts of last night's affair, after the jump...

Trailing 2-0, the Indians tallied two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the game into extra frames. You couldn't help but think that they left too many chances on the table, especially after Adrian Beltre blasted an eleventh inning, pinch-hit homer that gave the Rangers a 5-2 victory. Jim Berdysz gives his Second Thoughts to Saturday Night's ballgame.

The Indians first real test came on Friday night, as the mighty Texas Rangers rolled into Cleveland for a battle of first place teams. Texas is heralded as the best team in baseball right now, while the Indians, well, are not. I guess every dog has it's day, right? Jim Berdysz rolls out his Second Thoughts on Friday Night's 6-3 Indians win.
