The Winter Meetings and the Rule 5 Draft may be over, but the Winter League action is still rolling along. Now former Cleveland prospect Hector Rondon made his nominal debut for the Cubs, but he is still in our hearts here at IPI, along with players like Paolo Espino, Luis Hernandez, Rob Bryson, Giovanni Soto, and more. To catch up on all the action from last night, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.
The Winter Meetings are typically when the offseason really begins to heat up, so with them scheduled to start today in Nashville, let us take a little time to get acquainted with some names Cleveland has been attached to this offseason. Any number of things could go down in Tennessee, but these are the players that Chris Antonetti has the best chance at acquiring as free agents, trade pickups, or recent non-tenders.
Yesterday was the non-tender deadline and Cleveland had to make some difficult choices. The team chose not to tender contracts to Jack Hannahan, Rafael Perez, and Chris Seddon, letting them go into free agency. Additionally, it was announced that Corey Kluber had right knee surgery after injuring himself during the offseason.
A few leagues may have taken the night off, but there was still plenty of minor league action to follow. Giovanni Soto had his best outing of the winter, Ezequiel Carrera continued his solid offseason, and Eric Berger dominated in his start. For all this and more, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.
And Jesus Aguilar is back! After a disappointing start to the offseason and not being named to the 40-man roster, Aguilar seems to finally have turned the corner. To see what he and others like Jose Ramirez, Rob Bryson, and Hector Rondon did last night, check out Around The Farm with Jim Piascik as he takes you around the action in the offseason leagues.
First off, we here at IPI hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and a great Black Friday night of shopping (if you braved the crowds). Thursday night marked the final game action for the Arizona Fall League's Scottsdale Scorpions, and with it ended the journey for the eight Cleveland prospects taking part in the league. The IPI's Jim Piascik recaps how all eight Indians prospects did, who impressed, and what - if anything - we can take away from the performances whether good or bad.
Thursday marked the final game in the Arizona Fall League for the Cleveland prospects out west, giving Tyler Holt, Carlos Moncrief, and Ronny Rodriguez one last opportunity to impress stateside before the spring. To see how those prospects and those in the Caribbean Winter Leagues fared last night, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.
The Puerto Rican Winter League began play last night, giving us here at IPI more Indians prospects to follow. Eastern League champions Roberto Perez and Giovanni Soto headlined the Puerto Rican league's debut for the Tribe, while joining some old standbys in the Arizona Fall League. Join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm, recapping all the action from last night.
The rest of the world may have been busy with Election Night and the Electoral College, but we here at IPI remained fixated on the offseason leagues and Indians prospects. And now that we got that corny and predictable teaser out of the way, I can tell you that Around The Farm will catch you up on Jose Ramirez's big night, on the scoring explosion in the Arizona Fall League, and the rest of last night's action.
