Fishing with the Mudcats: Suspension of Disbelief
The Mudcats couldn't hit this week, and they really couldn't pitch much. Put that all together, and your week isn't going to go very well. The Mudcats quest for the second half took a bit of a snag after a struggling week that saw a long losing streak, which coincided with a suspension by two of the Mudcats best players. Check out the week as we go Fishing with the Mudcats...

Bryson Myles followed up Monday Night's three-hit ballgame with another. Matt LaPorta hit his first home run since July third. Roberto Hernandez didn't pitch all that well, but Giovanni Soto and Danny Salazar did. At the top of the heap was a former major leaguer, who just can't seem to find his way back to the bigs. Find out who, after the jump...

Danny Jimenez threw out five innings of no-hit baseball tonight, a night in which two of the Tribe affiliates had the night off. Tyler Naquin rolled out a three-hit performance, which is made even more impressive by the fact that the Scrappers only had four total hits, and no walks. The top spot sees a three-hit game from a player that has struggled a bit with injury this season, but is really trying to return to 2011 form.

The Indians had a lost weekend in Minneapolis, but their minor league teams continue to plug away with some good and some not-so-good performances. In Columbus both Tim Fedroff and Ezequiel Carrera have been on fire, but the one player in the system who may be playing the most consistent ball over the past month and a half is Mahoning Valley's Joey Wendle. Find out about him and more after the jump...

Tim Fedroff continued his International League onslaught with a big doubleheader in which he had a hit in ever at-bat but one. Cord Phelps joined him with another hot night, Bryan Price had his best night of the season out of the pen, and Rob Bryson joined him with HIS best night out of the pen on the season. No beating around the bush though, ZEKE continues to hold fort at the top of ATF...

Fishing for Mudcats: "Floating to Nowhere"
The Mudcats can't find any consistency this season, other than to be consistently inconsistent. While the offense seemed to find their groove without their big bopper doing much of anything, their rotation and their bullpen did about what was expected, and tread water, reversing roles week after week. Tune into this week's Fishing for Mudcats, to see the High A Mudcats at their best...

Zeke Carrera is just killing it in Columbus, and like last year, may be the best player there right now. Juan Diaz is playing his best baseball of the season, and perhaps even of his entire career. Preston Guilmet is the iceman, and clearly doesn't let implosions effect him longer than about a minute. At the top of the heap is a guy that's used to leading the "pack." I know, mystic...so find out who it is...after the jump...

Smoke Signals 7/24: Buying, Selling or Quitting?
The Yankees may have pulled off the surprise of the deadline with the trade for Ichiro. The White Sox made the first couple of moves with Youkilis and Brett Myers. The Tigers pull in a big-time starter in Anibal Sanchez. The Indians...The Indians...The Indians...well...they sure like to talk about Windows? With Tony vacationing on the great American beaches, join Jim and the IPI as they talk trade deadline...

Tim Fedroff continues to make a play to make it to the big leagues. He's done everything except steal Johnny Damon's jersey and 5 o'clock shadow. Matt Pagnozzi blasted two home runs on the night, showing off a bit of that family pedigree. The headliner continues to show up skills that should get him at least to Triple A. Find out who, after the jump...

2012 fourth round draft pick, D'vone McClure belted his first professional home run in a three-hit performance in only his second professional ball game. Felix Sterling continued one of the strangest up-and-down seasons of recent memory. The top spot of ATF goes to a guy that spent a whole lot of time this season in the top three. Ezequiel Carrera is hitting .317 over his last 44 games, and Tim Fedroff is hitting .384 over his last 20 games. Both are making a play for a potential bench role this year, should an injury force the Indians hand. Chris Seddon and Jake Sisco continue to pitch well, while Mahoning Valley hits like garbage. The top slot goes to perhaps my favorite player in 2012. Find out who that is, after the jump...

Corner of Carnegie & Ontario: "Clark, we're stuck under a truck"
Enough treading water. The Indians need to make a move. With many saying this team can't win, or wait until next year, Jim Pete is off that bandwagon. This team can win, and win now. A big bat and a #2 or #3 pitcher could turn the tide. Easier said than done? Let Antonetti worry about that, it's his job...but get it done. Join Jim Pete on the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario as he rallies the trade wagons...after the jump...

Cody Allen called up to the Indians
Cody Allen was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 23rd round of the Major League first-year player draft last June 7, 2011. On July 20, 2012, Cody Allen was promoted to the Cleveland Indians, completing one of the quickest progressions through the Indians organization in recent memory. Find out the details from IPI's Jim Pete, after the jump...

Tyler Cannon is a name that not many people have been paying attention to in the Indians system, but he's quietly becoming a factor in the system, both offensively and defensively. The Lake County offensive crew seems to be back on track and loaded for bear, led by some pesky infielder named Lindor. At the top of the charts on Wednesday night is one of my favorite players in the system...if only the Indians would feel the same way...
