Around the Farm: January 11, 2014
Carlos Santana and Jesus Aguilar were both in action once again on Saturday night. Santana was his normal on-base making self and Aguilar proved to be human, but the interesting story of the night is Asdrubal Cabrera suiting up for Caracas. The IBI's Tony Lastoria talks about what Cabrera has been up to and his plans in Venezuela.

Around the Farm: January 8, 2014
The Dominican Winter League playoffs raged on Wednesday night, and Carlos Santana and Enosil Tejeda had a big part in Escogido's 9-2 win on the night. Tejeda was a surprise performer as he had not pitched in over two months and Santana continues to contribute offensively and keep hope alive on his experiment at third base.

Tribe Happenings: Payroll commitments have limited the Indians
With the new year here and the 2014 season just weeks away, and before we know it the trucks will be leaving Cleveland for spring training in Goodyear. As we really dig in for some cold weather in the Cleveland area, some may say the Indians offseason has been just as frigid with the lack of many moves. The IBI's Tony Lastoria talks about the difference between last year's spending spree and this year's closed checkbook, explains the true reason why teams don't want to lose a first round pick for a "qualified" free agent and much more.

The Winter Ball Experience
The winter leagues in the Latin American countries provide an opportunity for players to play in more games and for Latin American players to play baseball in their home country. It gives some upper level minor league players a stage to showcase their talents and other players a chance to make up lost innings or at bats. In a piece that originally posted this time two years ago, the IBI's Tony Lastoria re-posts this piece with a few updates on the Winter Ball Experience for American players.

Two of the Indians big guns were in action in winter ball on Saturday night as both Carlos Santana and Jesus Aguilar played for their teams.
