Scouting the Indians 2013 Draft: Part 1
Over the course of the next few weeks Tony will be posting post-draft pieces on all of the players that the Indians drafted and signed from the 2013 Draft. The Indians signed 25 players in total and also signed two undrafted free agents, and he will have a tons of comments on each and every player from Indians Amateur Scouting Director Brad Grant as well as other insights from what was seen in their pro debuts this season. In today's first edition he looks at Clint Frazier, Thomas Pannone, Silento Sayles, Matt Whiteside and Shawn Rowland.

2013 Instructional League: FAQ
The Indians 2013 Fall Instructional League kicks off on Thursday out at their spring training and player development complex in Goodyear, Arizona. Camp runs for a little over four weeks and time will be split between on-field workouts, intra-squad games, and games between other local Major League organizations before concluding on Monday October 14th. The Radar Report: 2013 Volume II
"The Radar Report" is a premium feature that lists fastball velocities and other notes for several pitchers in the Indians' system which Tony has recorded during his visits to see the teams/players. Today's listing has almost 20 radar readings for pitchers in the Indians' minor league system, and he includes some scouting notes on all of them and where available he has also included the velocity ranges for their secondary pitches.

Tribe Happenings: Indians are winning, but lack connection
The Indians sit one game out of the playoffs with 21 games to go and they are set up for a wild finish these last three weeks. This is much to the surprise of many fans who have given up on them at various points of the season and the severe lack of support at the gates over the season. Indians add five to roster, DFA Fedroff and Diaz
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have added Preston Guilmet, Nick Hagadone, Blake Wood, Jose Ramirez and Kelly Shoppach to the roster, and have also DFAed Juan Diaz and Tim Fedroff.

Carrasco optioned to Columbus, Cooper opts out
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have added outfielder Jason Kubel to the to the major league roster. To make room for him on the 25-man roster they have optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to Triple-A Columbus. Also, David Cooper has opted out of his minor league contract with the Indians.

Around the Farm: August 30, 2013
It was a big night for Jose Ramirez. Not with the bat, but the news that he will be added to the 40-man roster and be called up to Cleveland on Sunday when rosters expand. Tony chimes in on the callup and who may be coming off the roster to make room for him, and he also opines on the other performances throughout the organization on the night.

Indians sign Kelly Shoppach to minor league deal
The Cleveland Indians today signed free agent catcher Kelly Shoppach to a minor league contract and assigned him to the Triple-A Columbus roster.

Indians release Brett Myers
The Brett Myers era in Cleveland is officially over. On Thursday afternoon the club announced that they activated the right-hander from the 60-day disabled list and released him from his contract.

Raburn placed on DL, Carson promoted to Cleveland
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have placed outfielder Ryan Raburn on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left Achilles tendon (retroactive to August 19th). To fill his roster spot they have purchased the contract of outfielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Columbus.

2013 Instructional League roster and schedule
The 2013 Fall Instructional League gets underway shortly out in Goodyear, Arizona. Over a span of a month around 50 players will participate in weight training and conditioning drills, on-field instruction, and play in 14 games until it wraps up on Monday October 14th. Tony has the details on what players are going out there and the schedule for the four week period. Be sure to follow the IBI all fall for updates on the happenings in "Instructs", the Parallel League, the Arizona Fall League and more.
