A year in the minor leagues can bring many surprises as players can struggle in some areas and succeed in others. It is the refinement in those strengths and the development of their weaknesses which determines the fate of most prospects, and for outfielder Tyler Naquin that is no different. The IBI's Tony Lastoria recently sat down with him and discussed his season, what he wants to improve, and what he ultimately needs to do to get to the big leagues.

The IBI's Tony Lastoria talks about why it is time to move on from Jimenez and how his market may be shaping up. He also talks about why Scott Kazmir was not extended a qualifying offer, runs through some early rumors, explains why Jesus Aguilar has played third base of late, and more.

Amazingly, the 2013 Arizona Fall League season wraps up late next week. It has been a little more condensed version than in years past, but it still has given players from all 30 organizations a chance to face some of the best talent in the upper levels of the minors for five weeks. One player who has benefited from that exposure has been right-handed pitcher Will Roberts, and the IBI's Tony Lastoria recently talked to him to see how things are going.

The Indians made news on Thursday when they released much maligned closer Chris Perez and then also made a minor trade and resigned Jason Giambi. Then on Friday they picked up the option on Ubaldo Jimenez's contract only to see him decline it. Tony shares his thoughts on all of the moves and discusses what the Indians should do at closer now that Perez is gone and also how important it is to retain one of Jimenez or Scott Kazmir in the starting rotation.

Today we wrap up the 2013 Tony Awards with the announcement of the All-Tony teams for 2013. Today we continue the IBI’s year-end awards with the announcement of the Offensive Player of the Year. This award goes to the position player in the Indians organization that had the best year. Like with all the awards so far, this is 100% based on performance and not on prospect standing. Tony lists all of the top performances and narrows it down to three players who all had fantastic seasons, and his pick as the top player may come as a surprise.

The Indians announced today that they have exercised the 2014 club option ($8 million) on right-handed pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. Because of the parameters of his contract where if he were traded, his 2014 club option turned into a mutual option when he was traded from the Rockies to the Indians in July of 2011. As a result, Jimenez voided the contract and is now a free agent.

Tony takes a deeper look into how that process works and explains some of the reasoning behind moves at this time of the year, and he also looks at all 44 players on the 40-man roster and predicts who he thinks are no longer on it by the November 20th roster deadline.
