The 2013 Instructional League game schedule got underway on Saturday out in Arizona for the Indians minor leaguers. A total of 25 players played and Tony has the full details on how each player did, the box score from the game, and provides some insight and analysis into their performances and what they are working on out in Arizona.
One week to go. The Indians currently hold a half game lead for the second wildcard spot and control their own destiny, but a lot can change this final week. As the Indians, Rays and Rangers appear to be setting themselves apart from the pack, Tony goes over the wildcard scenarios and explains all of the tiebreaker scenarios. He also talks about the emergence of Yan Gomes as a core player, the potential return of Justin Masterson, the makeup of the postseason roster and more.

Tony recently had a chance to sit down with Indians Assistant Director of Player Development Carter Hawkins to get the organization’s thoughts on the performance/development of some of the players there such as Clint Frazier, Francisco Mejia, Gerald Bautista, Ivan Castillo, D’Vone McClure, Silento Sayles and several others.

The Indians 2013 Fall Instructional League kicks off on Thursday out at their spring training and player development complex in Goodyear, Arizona. Camp runs for a little over four weeks and time will be split between on-field workouts, intra-squad games, and games between other local Major League organizations before concluding on Monday October 14th.
