The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have added outfielder Jason Kubel to the to the major league roster. To make room for him on the 25-man roster they have optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to Triple-A Columbus. Also, David Cooper has opted out of his minor league contract with the Indians.
It was a big night for Jose Ramirez. Not with the bat, but the news that he will be added to the 40-man roster and be called up to Cleveland on Sunday when rosters expand. Tony chimes in on the callup and who may be coming off the roster to make room for him, and he also opines on the other performances throughout the organization on the night.
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have placed outfielder Ryan Raburn on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left Achilles tendon (retroactive to August 19th). To fill his roster spot they have purchased the contract of outfielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Columbus.
The 2013 Fall Instructional League gets underway shortly out in Goodyear, Arizona. Over a span of a month around 50 players will participate in weight training and conditioning drills, on-field instruction, and play in 14 games until it wraps up on Monday October 14th. The Indians players enjoyed a much needed off day on Monday, but the organization was still hard at work in the offices at Progressive Field and on site at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus evaluating September callup options for the stretch run. On Tuesday the Indians announced that four position players have been named to the Arizona Fall League. Outfielder Tyler Naquin, second baseman Joey Wendle, catcher Jake Lowery and infielder/catcher Tony Wolters were all named to the team.

The Indians announced on Tuesday morning that Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Diasuke Matsuzaka requested and was granted his release from his minor league contract with the Indians. He is now a free agent.
