Why is Nick Hamilton not on the list? Possibly the worst minor league player in history. Definitely the worst case of nepotism I have seen.

The Indians should have given that kid Paddy Matera a shot at double A. He killed it in the Carolina league last year, and he also had a great spring training.

Yep, I had Chen slotted as back at Akron after LaHair and Cooper were assigned to Columbus this week. The writing was on the wall where he would have to go to Akron or request his release. Looks like Jerad Head may not get that opp with Chen gone.

I heard that Taiwan 1B prospect Chen, asked for his release when he found out he was to be assigned back to AA. He really didn't have much to prove there. I think that opens up spot for Matera as DH/infield utility in Akron. .

In reality Sisco has been a head case since day 1. Numerous issues in the clubhouse and never really meshed with any teammates. So that is no surprise. But wow is that a lot of pitchers on that list.

In fairness, there is no scouting department that could foresee a young kid retiring like Howard did.....or Sisco's out of the blue retirement.

Howard $1,850,000 Signing Bonus
Sisco $325,000 Signing Bonus

Why do you retire at 21 or 22 years old?

Poor job of scouting, look at the money wasted on players let go this year.

Yep, not good. Though also the cost of doing business out of the draft as lots of teams end up eating like signing bonuses (just the Indians in the past have tended to side on the "more" category). I don't see any UDFAs doing well with anyone, or anyone who is legitimately a prospect in a new organization. Only guy who has been released to do well is former late round pick Vidal Nuno, but even he's fringy and probably a career back and forth AAA-MLB guy for a few years. Sometimes timing is everything for these guys!

Wow,

Blair $585,000 Signing Bonus
Cook $299,000 Signing Bonus
Dew $?
Goodnight $315,000 Signing Bonus

And the Indians have released several NDFA ($0 signing bonus) who are doing quite well with other organizations.
